Yeah same. It's one thing for ads to hype it but when leaked footage garners that kind of response I do get revved up.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

I have to admit I couldn't contain my excitement so I watched it. Holy crap, definitely a 10/10 episode. Wow. I second that the hour went by way too fast... didn't want it to end!

My sister had a good setup. If Jaime has a scene where he has to chose between. Saving cersei or Brieene

RE: OT: Game of Thrones Discussion - Potential Spoilers Warning
Brienne isn't nearly as important in the books. Unless they totally change the story (and that has never been Jaime's arc), I just don't see it. That would be such fan service from the show that it would turn me off.

Instant reaction from tonight: boy did you people oversell it. It was slow as hell for 30 minutes, then the Field of Fire 2.0 was... ehhh. It wasn't bad, but there was a lot to be desired. The Dothraki could have run over those lines by themselves. And why in the hell wouldn't Dany have just flow directly up and down the Lannister lines cooking all the soldiers, instead of BBQing the grain, etc.

The gold was already safely in KL. What a buzzkill.

The discovery in the caves was... really? :sigh:

The episode was far too short too.

I think I like my prediction storylines better.

SPOILER ALERT

Don't like daenerys right now. Like IDC about what she's doing to the lannister army but she keeps dogging my boy snow. Like for goodness sake, he shows her actual proof that white walkers exist and what does she say? I'll serve you, if you bend the knee. I hate that. Then had the nerve to tell him to think about his people and not worry about pride. um excuse me I think you're the one who is all about pride with your egotistical self..

Also found it kind of sad for sansa how she's reunited with her younger siblings but they're nothing like she remembers them. Almost different people altogether. Also I really wanted Jon to beat Theon ass for what he did

Whole episode was great, but when Arya and Brienne were sparring I was grinning ear to ear. That was just amazing seeing her hold her own against Brienne. Arya's fast becoming my favorite character on the show, at least. I'm glad they're putting all her training and skills to use, now, instead of just dragging out her days on the road.

RE: OT: Game of Thrones Discussion - Potential Spoilers Warning
Do you folks really not see that Dany is not the hero? For the 80th time, this story is not called Game of Thrones. It's called A Song of Ice and Fire. Jon is the song. He will probably kill Dany like Azor Ahai killed Nissa Nissa (in order to forge Lightbringer). But the point of Dany's character is to show that well meaning tyrants are just that too. There is no happiness in a feudal system. Men (& women) are not meant to be monarchs and rule over each other. Dany is in the show and books to illustrate that all monarchs are tyrants because absolute power corrupts absolutely. She is going to get worse and worse as the show continues: "bend the knee".

And the only part of the episode I really enjoyed was the sparring between Arya and Brienne. But at the same time, it was just delaying her killing Littlefinger. That delay was annoying me. She's gonna do it. She gave him the "you're next" stare at the end of her session.

If any of you think that was a hard hitting ending because Jaime might be dead... FFS people. He's fine. Dany's gonna take him hostage and go to kill him, but Tyrion will beg for his and Bronn's lives.

Maybe that means my last theory was wrong and Cersei is gonna trade Ellaria for Jaime. I guess that makes sense. Cersei really shouldn't do that deal though. By my count, she has almost no army left. Whatever she has left in Kings Landing. And if that's the case, her best play is too hold up in the red keep and make Dany attack her the way Dany doesn't want to (even while Jon is whining that time is running out). Boy, that'll be fun.... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Chaos is a ladder!

I thought the episode was great. Started a little slow. Dany is definitely frustrating now. There's been so many things she's done since coming to westeros that makes me smh. I'm all about the 3 eyed raven now. I loved seeing him immediately shut down littlefinger's sneaky ways with a simple phrase: chaos is a ladder. Gave me chills hearing him say that. I honestly thought he was about to kill him. We're due for a 3 eyed raven, Jon/Dany conference call. Also - how serious is the damage to Dany's dragon? Looked super serious at first but then I kinda felt like it was just a flesh wound...

Good post. Reminded me of this tweet (that I didn't write):

Quote:Shouldn't Bran use his mystical powers to convey some sort of useful information to someone instead of just acting creepy?

Also, sorry ODUmoarchz. It's a pet peeve to me anytime I see people talking about who will win the throne or rooting for Dany. It makes me think the people watching don't understand that the entire show is an allegory for a lot of despicable social constructs and behavior that continues even in our modern society. A bunch of power hungry ******** killing off the common folks for their own ambitions; while ignoring the real threats to our existence. Has it ever dawned on anyone that this world has been stuck in a medieval existence for thousands of years? They never had the renaissance / enlightment. That's a BAD thing (as much as I like fantasy settings).

I thought it was good, but the 2 scenes mentioned already stood out. "Chaos is a ladder" was such a great line. And Arya really is the coolest character. You can't help but root for her and she turned into a BA.

Anything else you'd like to complain about?

I get it... You're obviously a book reader. Speaking as only a television viewer this episode was awesome!! Once the tv series is over, I do intend on reading the books (If/when Martin finishes them). I'm sure the books will be more detailed and thought provoking than anything made for tv.

I would think the cave drawings would have a deeper meaning too... Possibly laying out a blueprint on how the Walkers were defeated years ago. We need an interpreter. Hello Bran? Anytime now.

Officially it clocked in at just under 51 minutes. And that was known before the season. Episodes 6 and 7 will more than make up for #4 length-wise.

I just don't know what to think about anybody who thought the first half of this episode was slow. It was just over 5 SEASONS between Sansa-Arya scenes. It was something that we needed to savor. And the Dragonstone scenes were needed not only to set up the battle scene but also for later plot.

Arya's attempt to enter Winterfell was Arya personified. And then Arya's first words to Sansa and Sansa's response were classic. And it was a 2-hug scene...was not expecting that.

The Brienne-Arya training scene was fantastic. And the end of that scene has to make you wonder just who else might be on Arya's list. We can only hope.

Goes without saying that the battle scene was great. And the show ended at the cliffhanger point.

Well, having read the books way before their popularity and the show were out I didn't like her arc so much as I do now. Like you knew something was going to come of it all but hadn't developed in the books, even yet. It's kind of like having a baby. At first it just lays there and looks cute, but then it develops and gains personality and you really become attached to it as it's own person rather than biological obligation. Scary and badass are working for her.

PS For one of the other posts, Dany burned the grain instead of the whole army because she was pissed that Cersei emptied the grain stores from Casterly leaving Grey Worm and his troops without food to hold it or travel well. Cersei starved her army and she was returning the favor.
