Irrelevant to keep bringing that up. As long as he's here CSUB will be in contention every year. Also let's see Hayford coach a damn game let alone a whole season at SU before annointing him God.

RE: WAC Basketball Recruiting 2017-18
Rod Barnes... In WAC: 106-87 (0.549)... In D1: 291-275 (0.514)...Overall: Same
Tracey Dildy... In WAC: 52-171 (0.233)... In D1: Same... Overall: Same
Jim Hayford... In WAC: 0-0 (0.000)... In D1: 106-91 (0.538)... Overall: 360-175 (0.673)
Lew Hill... In WAC: 10-22 (0.313)... In D1: Same... Overall: Same
Chris Jans... In WAC: 0-0 (0.000)... In D1: 21-12 (0.636)... Overall: 180-57 (0.759)
Dan Majerle... In WAC: 81-46 (0.638)... In D1: Same... Overall: Same
Mark Pope... In WAC: 29-35 (0.453)... In D1: Same... Overall: Same
Kareem Richardson... In WAC: 54-75 (0.419)... In D1: Same... Overall: Same
Based on WAC records, Dan Majerle is the best coach in the conference. Based on D1 winning percentage, Dan Majerle is still the best coach in the conference. But based on career winning percentage, Chris Jans should prove to be the best coach in the conference.

I just wonder why with all the success Barnes has had at CSUB along with his self proclamation of being the hottest coach in college basketball why not one school went after him last year and Weir had one good season and he was gone?

Well according to him he was getting inquiries in 2016, and despite him then in 2017 (when Bakersfield goes on an NIT run) denying anyone called, I dont believe that. Hes only 51 and making $220k at CSUB

RE: WAC Basketball Recruiting 2017-18
Well, since this tread is meant for WAC recruiting, this conversation is probably taking it off track. However, I will say that looking at recent sample sizes of our WAC coaches, GCU fans have a legit argument that they have the best coach in the WAC (Dan Majerle). And, if you look at what Barnes has done at CSUB in his six seasons and what Hayford did at Eastern Washington in the same amount of time, there is a legit argument that Hayford is every bit on the same level as Barnes. Barnes has one NCAA appearance, one NIT appearance, and one CIT appearance. Hayford has one NCAA appearance, and two CBI appearances at EWU. Furthermore, he produced one NBA second round draft choice during that time.
And, I haven't even thrown Chris Jans into the mix; who has been successful at every level. Or, Mark Pope, who has UVU trending in the right direction. Or, even the potential of a young Rick Croy; when Cal Baptist joins the WAC next season. The WAC is getting crowded with good coaches.
Back to WAC recruiting, as per verbal commits, NMSU is recruiting PG Peter PJ Byrd from Fort Bend, TX for 2018. He is on the same AAU team as another Aggie 2018 target in PF Morris Udeze.

I'm gonna argue that Majerle's record is so good because we generally play half the MEAC and SWAC every year.

Well, if you take just WAC regular season games over the last four season for Majerle and Barnes, Majerle is 40-18 (0.690) and Barnes is 35-23 (0.603). Keep in mind, Majerle has been at GCU only four season; jumping from D2 to D1. Barnes had two season as a D1 independent prior to joining the WAC; giving him more time to turn things around at CSUB.
What I find interesting is Barnes' rise as a coach coincides with the addition of Marc Hsu to his staff. Hsu is a very good JC recruiter. And, he is more than likely responsible for bringing in Aly Ahmed (from Midland JC) for the 2013-14 season... Kevin Mays (from Odessa JC), Jaylin Airington (from Ventura (CA) College), & Matt Smith (from Columbia State CC) for the 2014-15 season... Dedrick Basile (from Trinity Valley CC), Justin Pride (from Columbia State CC) and Justin Hollins (from San Jacinto JC) for the 2015-16 season... And, finally add Shonn Briggs (from CC of San Francisco), James Suber (from Panola JC) and Moataz Aly (from Hutchinson JC) to the Roadrunners for the 2016-17 season before he took the NMSU Assistant Coaching job in August of 2016. I'm pretty sure Hsu also had a hand in bringing Rickey Holden to the CSUB team for this coming season. Holden was originally supposed to sign with CSUB after his JC freshman season but returned to Jones County CC for his sophomore year; probably grades. It will be interesting what talent Barnes brings in now that Hsu's recruiting influence is gone.
WAC fans can probably thank Hsu for the addition of Jemerrio Jones to the Aggie squad; as he showed up on the Aggie team about the same time Hsu was hire at NMSU. He was already getting to work the 2017-18 class with NMSU signing of Top 100 JC Tyree Robinson (from Odessa JC), Top 100 JC Jachai Simmons (from Midland JC), and Top 100 Freshman LJ Figueroa (With his Dominican Republic recruiting connections) before Weir pulled the rug out from under the Aggie program.

I wouldn't give Hsu all the credit some are from Barne's Mississippi connection which is how he got Joiner. I think if Barnes leaves that they will almost certainly be giving Hsu an interview. NMSU gave him one if I'm not mistaken. I would love to see him get the job.

No idea why he deleted it but still has retweets up saying he's left the program. Weird.

I tweeted Mark Rudi from the LC Sun New about the deletion. Rudi reported it via a tweet from Lee.

Per Verbal Commits, New Mexico State, Utah Valley and UT Rio Grande Valley are all recruiting Kenechukwu Chukwuka (6'9, 215, Fr) from New Mexico JC for the 2017-18 season. He has three more years of eligibility and is of Swedish and Nigerian decent.
Other notable teams recruiting him are Pittsburgh, Middle Tennessee State, Iona, and Evansville among others.

According to twitter and verbal commits, Jabari Rice, a 6'4, 160-lbs, freshman small forward from Missouri City, TX has committed to NMSU. I can only assume he is taking the scholarship left by Lamarcus Lee's departure.
