The only thing that bothers me is that the old saying - you never know what you got until U see them in a game. We may have a few practice only players and will have a few holes that even our very good coaches do not know about say a line position

If we beat ball state we start the season 4-0 and win 7 games in the regular season.

Fanatics have a hard time making realistic predictions. I honestly believe we are going to win every game until we don't.
That said, we may not win them all, but I do expect a bowl game.

If we go a bowl game the first year back from our shutdown, when does the hollywood movie get made? That's a perfect, improbable feel-good story.

I don't ike to make predictions about a whole season in July. I can understand everyone having expectations low but some things to keep in mind
-This team will be physically bigger across the both fronts than any other UAB team.
-This isn't a group of freshman walk ons. There are a lot of guys that have played a lot of football at the JC level and have excelled. Probably 2/3 of the staters and a lot of the back ups will have played JC ball. Some are transfers from other FBS programs.
-Most of the incoming freshmen had multiple offers before picking us.
-They haven't seen live fire as a group but they've bought into the system and they've had up to 18 months to understand what is expected. Because so many have played in tough JC leagues you'll see leadership come very quickly
-They have a HUGE chip on their shoulders.

Coach Clark is an excellent coach, no one disputes that. I believe you give Coach Clark 14 months to recruit, train and game scheme, you are going to get a very confident and prepared team.
I will be very disappointed if this team isnt a salty bunch with a lot to prove.
My hope 4-7 win. But, like an earlier post stated , we win when we run out of the tunnel..

RE: Realistic Win/Loss record
As stated above, the schedule sets up favorably for us to get momentum. In the Callaway years, 2 buy games were mandated, and we played no FCS teams.
The OOC schedule was set up masterfully this year. For now, we need to stick to 1 P5 game, 1 FCS game, and 2 G5 games (with easier opponents scheduled for the next few years).
For 2018, we have @Coastal Carolina, Tulane, and @Texas A&M on the schedule. Throw an FCS opponent in and we're well positioned to be bowling at least in Year 2 of #thereturn.

Probably with a new coach. Wouldn't surprise me if Texas A&M buys this one out...

Offensive line does seem unsettled.

Unless UAB scares Florida this year, Texas A&M will be licking its chops to get UAB into College Station for a home game -- maybe even a Homecoming game. Of course, LSU invited UAB to be its Homecoming victim in 2000, and we know how that turned out.

Just need to hope no one decides to get cute the way Houston did against SMU when they returned to football. Houston ran up the score to 95-21. Hopefully Florida doesn't feel the need to be brutal. I think 4 or 5 wins is feasible.
I'll predict right now that anyone who thinks we'll get boat raced out of the stadium like SMU did is in for a surprise.

No chance of that happening. Texas A&M will not view UAB as a threat no matter how good we do this season.

I'm not saying we won't give Florida a good game, but they also don't run the type of game plan that would allow for such a thing to happen. It's almost a certainty that they won't be blowing out any teams by an astronomical amount.

FWIW, the betting line regular season wins over/under for UAB is currently:
Over 2 1/2 @ -150
Under 2 1/2 @ +120

Wow. This seems almost too good to take. 3 wins seems an almost certainty.

No chance of that happening. Texas A&M will not view UAB as a threat no matter how good we do this season.
Ole Miss and Mississippi State bought out our series with each of them before Clark came here.
As I recall it, MSU bought out the B'ham game after losing to a visiting UAB. Ole Miss wasn't ever going to take that risk. Ole Miss and Bama think alike about playing risky OOC games, especially in state schools.

The question is, "How big of a risk is it to play a team with 40+ seniors who see 2018 as their last chance to shine and with a real chance at a successful season when you have a new coach?". Is it worth the chance? This is a game that Texas A&M fans expect to win and win BIG against a team 1 year removed from non-existence. What if they don't? Judging by their 2018 non-conference season(Northwestern State, Clemson, & OLM), UAB may be their 2nd toughest game as they use the tried-and-true SEC scheduling model - 1 P5, 1 FCS, 2 "lower-level" G5.
