Driving. We're staying at Holiday Inn Express by the GSU campus. Should make us almost walking distance to CNN and world of coke.

We were able to get Sat for 95 bucks at the hotel. I wish they would announce the game time so I'll know if I need to get Fri night as well (if it's a noon game)

I'm hoping it's an evening game (7pm). Get up early Sat morning, drive the 5 hours to ATL and check in a little after noon. Watch the game Sat evening, and crash after that. Check out Sun by 11 and go hit up CNN and Coke (may only get to do one) before driving home.

I have lived in ATL for 25 years. You are staying in one of the worst parts of town, that Holiday Inn sucks - it used to be a college dorm (and I worked for HI for 9 years) CNN and Coke are not worth it, and you are going to be seeing the tourist parts of ATL. See it from Midtown. Nice hotels, nice restaurants and things to see that are not on the normal tourist's list - instead see Piedmont Park, a stroll down Peachtree Street in Midtown, the Margaret Mitchell House, The High Museum, Country Ham Breakfast at the Silver Skillet, Dinner at Ecco in Midtown. You can walk to everything. Then when you go to the game hop of the subway and you will be near the stadium in 10 minutes. If you want to go to a downtown tourist spot go to the College Football Hall of Fame and the Georgia Aquarium instead.

OK, see here is what you do. There are VERY nice hotels downtown. If youre willing to stay at the Holiday Inn Express downtown cool. Keep that reservation. Before you arrive do a Priceline. You may get a 4 star room for teh same price last minute. From downtown you are a Uber or Lyft ride from a lot of cool stuff. If you have never been to Atlanta then CNN and Cocoa Cola are cool. Aquarium is also in that area as is the CFB HOF which is aaaammaaaaazing if you are a true fan. But you're also walking distance to restaurants and bars around Centennial Park and Peachtree Center. You are close as I said, via Lyft/Uber to Poncey Highlands, VA Highlands, Grant Park, Inman Park and Little Five 5 Points depending on what you like. Midtown and Buckhead are also not far away by car or train. If you choose Midtown as home base make sure you are choosing Midtown above 10th street and not Midtown around Ponce de Leon Ave. Your budget, likes and how you would like to travel should decide where you decide to stay.

I always giggle at people when they complain about traffic. If you live in a big city, you will likely claim your traffic is the worst. Guess what, all of the top 10 cities/markets have terrible traffic depending on the freeway and time of day. it's a given. I've spent a lot of time in Houston, Dallas and ATL, and for the most part, traffic sucked in all three. It is what it is.

Spend a little time in LA, where I've lived, and you will not complain about traffic anymore. As bad as those cities I mentioned are, LA is on a completely different level. Doesn't matter the time of day, the freeway, day of the week or whatever, it is a cluster f. It is by a mile the worst thing about living there and it is why most people leave. Eventually you just have to accept it and deal with it. To a lesser degree, same goes for all the top 10 cities/markets.

No doubt it sucks. I'm just pointing out that people living in Chicago, DC, The Bay area, Philly, Dallas and Houston have similar stories and complaints. It's what happens when you're in a place with that many people who mostly get around with a car. NYC and I guess Boston are the exceptions with public transit. And again, with all the other major cities there are times you will get in your car and not run into traffic, that never happens in LA.

I want something that's close to the stadium. I'm thinking of switching to that really old Ramada next to Tuner Field just so I can walk to the game...again, convenience and price...I've got em down to 81 bucks for the night. (and 15 to park)

but honestly, if GSU doesn't announce times soon I may have to call it off...this 'we will announce times when TV feels like it' doesn't work for making out of town plans.

I don't get it all frankly. We aren't UGA. TV time should be irrelevant. Should be a 6 or 7 pm game period.

Nobody's going to disagree with you there. Lawrence draws all the college town craziness in Kansas to it. Manhattan attracts farmers, engineers, and people who can't remember what day Saint Patrick's Day falls on.
