There's no doubt that I'm anti-social / introverted. My wife is the same way, actually worse. Generally speaking I don't really like people in the "real world". I do plenty of things but they usually don't involve going to cities much. When I do something in "the city" it typically involves going to a Hornets or Panthers game. Although this past weekend my wife and I had a "date" and went to a barcade near the Panthers stadium and a French style bakery she's been wanting to see.

Online is easier than real life. There is some truth in what you said, kidding or not.
I have no problem with that. It takes different strokes to move the world.

i'd much rather live in the country, but i thought i couldn't live without my neighborhood. one way of looking at is i still enjoy living in the cities' best 'hood but i secretly pine to get away, but just like everything else i'll only talk about it. the other way is to put a fire ring in the backyard

Country is fun for a week or so but give me a city with art, culture, diversity, parks, restaurants, and large airports that makes traveling the world easy. Otherwise, you turn into a recluse who fears anyone that thinks differently.

I would argue that many that live in the cities and embrace the diversity and culture also fear those who think differently. Maybe even more so.

Different strokes...I was born and raised a city boy. Loved it, and all the things you mentioned. Been there, done that.
Three years ago, I moved to the country. Love it. I can shoot guns in my backyard, sitting up against a 4000 acre hunting preserve. Building a shooting range. Big fire pit. Big workshop. Big fish pond. Wooded acres with walking paths. Big covered porch.
Close enough to civilization to eat out at nice places, fly out of an airport 20 miles away, and 90 miles from Atlanta. Perfect.

Sure. I lived in the ATL for 30 years. Enjoyed it. But I like the country better now. City was better for work. More convenient to airport. Country is better for retirement.

Because too many have to have a reason to hate. It's human nature. You sound like me. If you want to live in the city, good on you. If you want to live in the country, go for it. I like going into the city.... when I'm ready to deal with it. I'm more comfortable 40 miles outside of Memphis. Moved out here 20+ years ago. But to some people, my actions are tantamount to treason.

There's really only two kinds of cities in America, you know who you are:
Those that have hosted a Super Bowl, and those who haven't.

Well, I didn't exactly move to the west Texas border. More like from Atlanta to about 20 miles outside Columbus, GA.

Ok what did Atlanta do to you?

I spent most my time stuck in traffic and standing in lines at Six Flags. Our teams are playing so Atlanta gets another shot from me in a few months. This trip I want to check out world of coca-cola and the CNN hq.
Driving or flying? Yeah traffic is some of the worst on the planet. Centennial Park is nice base though. Walking distance to CNN, World of Coke, Aquarium and CFB HOF. And a short Uber or Lyft ride to cool neigjborhoods.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Driving. We're staying at Holiday Inn Express by the GSU campus. Should make us almost walking distance to CNN and world of coke.
We were able to get Sat for 95 bucks at the hotel. I wish they would announce the game time so I'll know if I need to get Fri night as well (if it's a noon game)
I'm hoping it's an evening game (7pm). Get up early Sat morning, drive the 5 hours to ATL and check in a little after noon. Watch the game Sat evening, and crash after that. Check out Sun by 11 and go hit up CNN and Coke (may only get to do one) before driving home.
that's the plan at least.
I have lived in ATL for 25 years. You are staying in one of the worst parts of town, that Holiday Inn sucks - it used to be a college dorm (and I worked for HI for 9 years) CNN and Coke are not worth it, and you are going to be seeing the tourist parts of ATL. See it from Midtown. Nice hotels, nice restaurants and things to see that are not on the normal tourist's list - instead see Piedmont Park, a stroll down Peachtree Street in Midtown, the Margaret Mitchell House, The High Museum, Country Ham Breakfast at the Silver Skillet, Dinner at Ecco in Midtown. You can walk to everything. Then when you go to the game hop of the subway and you will be near the stadium in 10 minutes. If you want to go to a downtown tourist spot go to the College Football Hall of Fame and the Georgia Aquarium instead.
