To be fair, three of our losses last year were by a touchdown or less which means we were 21 points away from an 8-4 season. One of the many reasons why I think we end up in a bowl in 2017.
For Georgia Southern, I think we go 7-5 with losses to Auburn, Indiana, App, Troy, and one of GAST, USA, StAte.

Really nothing shocking it would be typical Belt stuff. It is not like GS does not have equal or better talent if our new offensive staff is competent we are capable of beating anyone in the Belt. We have two bye weeks and all our OOC games including our FCS game before conf play begins. As of now I personally would not have GS the favorite against App or ArkSt but by week five who knows.

ULM was like 5 points from being 6-6 with a block FG loss to you guys if we're counting almost wins and almost losses.. We lose 6 starters 11 seniors and somehow we lose two more game than 2016.

Except for UGA in 2012. They were five yards from a national championship.
But yeah, everybody else finishes where they belong.

That's like saying you're 2 inches from being "the human hedgehog". Woulda, shoulda, coulda, but didn't.
Our records are what they were. stAte could bring up the Cajun loss; Cajuns could bring up the two OT chokes. Even Alabama could find excuses. Everyone can come up with a reason their team could have been better, but in reality, each team finishes where they belong.
I agree with the should coulda that's why I made my post to the Ga Southern fan.

Most of the time, but not all the time. This isn't the NFL.
As for us, we had three close wins and two close losses (I don't consider ULL a close game) so we can't blame our season on the way the cookie crumbles.

I agree that with the level of talent GS was returning we shoulda and most definitely coulda, but didn't. We ultimately finished where we should have and it was a direct reflection of our coaching.
However I feel like a lot of people are looking at our 5-7 season and taking it at face value. We didn't really get "blown out" by anyone other than G5 champion WMU. Even our P5 games against Ole Miss and GT were decided by less than two touchdowns.
Im not trying to make excuses. I'm just saying I expect us to be better this year with a head coach that's coming into his second year, a new Paul Johnson protege to bring back the option, and a D-Line that won't be as young and inexperienced as last year. I'm remaining hopeful for a 7-5 season.

I agree. I know ya'll don't like losing, but it's not like you lost to NC A&T and Liberty last year. You'll be fine, unfortunately.

We lost some big names but we still have LA Ramsby and Wesley Fields. Last year Fields had 5.2 ypc and 3 touchdowns to Brieda's 3.8 ypc and 3 touchdowns. Ramsby had 8 touchdowns. I'm excited to see them.

They're both good back but you're still missing QB and to be 8-4 that's a lot to miss.inak just saying 8-4 is pretty far fetched. Y'all barley beat ULM and we're by this board the worst program that ever lived.

Yeah, but using the same logic, we still won our game against the conference "cupcake" with no S&C coach, and one of the worse offensive coaching staffs in GS history, even if it was by slim margins. This upcoming year, we've lost some starting talent, but gained offensive coaching, and from what I've heard, the guy stepping into the QB roll has already started making a name for himself. The magic of our offense, is that his learning curve should be significantly shorter than it would be if he were a freshman pure pocket passer. A lot of his job currently deals with learning his reads, and then taking in a lot of repetition. Auburn may be a long day for him, but he'll learn a lot from the tape. Kevin Ellison as a freshman lead our team to a win over UF. 8-4 isn't as far fetched as you make it sound. In fact, I would wager that if he didn't go 7-5 or better next year, then CTS' third year would probably have to be nothing short of phenomenal. BTW, I put cupcake in quotes because I don't believe you guys are the worst program ever.

I am being over dramatic. Lol
We're not the worst that ever lived because the stats say so.
Funny thing is ULM is over .400 in all time in SBC. Thats nothing to brag about but that means we over 40% of the teams yet were the whipping boys.
We also almost beat y'all in 2014 when y'all won it all SBC. It took a hit on the ball in the endzone for us not to win. The white safety. I was there I saw and it fn sucked.
Ga Southern had awesome game day experience.
