ODUs share of Hampton Roads is much bigger than that but fairly good overall. What is that logo over Richmond, Virginia?

It actually doesn't match it, but you have to account for out of state alumni &, of course, t-shirt fans. Like Georgia Tech for example. I've heard that many GT alumni & students are very arrogant, (not all, but a lot) and that in turn, has made it a lot harder to win over the casual t-shirt fan. Go to a UGA game, and generally, if you're not wearing UF, AU, or GT colors, you will be treated very nice, and should have a good time. Similar situation if you go to a Nebraska or even an Auburn game. Troy alumni also treat their t-shirt fans well. If Minnesota alumni are anything like GT alumni, it is no wonder that they have a small fan base.

For Texas, at least, this map comes nowhere close to being a map of fan interest. I think the maps for Minnesota, Wyoming, and U-Washington at the very least also come nowhere close, way too big, while others like Ohio State and Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida/FlaSt are way too small. LaTech bigger than LSU? Wyoming bigger than Alabama and Oklahoma combined?

I actually made a college football fan interest map using some more accurate fan interest maps and input from posters on the realignment board. I wound up changing my map several times, but I think it's a lot more representative of the college football fan bases than some others out there. It has multiple small logos for national fan bases too.[Image: fanbase3_3.png]

That map is garbage.

Not bad. I would expand the TexTech and A&M areas in Texas, but overall a good representation. I am impressed with the little BYU area in west Texas.

The fundamentalist mormon compound in west Texas I guess, not fans of the LDS BYU though. BYU fans are more concentrated in Las Vegas and Arizona

Oh. Neither one belongs in Richmond.

RE: Closest FBS Stadium to Each County
Upon further review, I have to side with wh49er. You give way too much credit to the academies at military bases (mostly a mix of loyalties, not even a majority for Army or Navy, save for one week a year) or BYU in assumed largely Mormon areas (I went to high school in that part of Virginia and never met a BYU fan). Yet you gave little to no credit to huge alumni bases in areas (like the 100k+ ODU alums in Hampton Roads).

Well, at least you went into more detail than wh49er did, Odudrinkard. The state of California needs to be redone as well from what I've heard from others. As for it being garbage, I sure did waste an awful lot of time on it. Oh well, back to the old drawing board .

No one in Charlotte cares about UNC football, only basketball.

Ok, hmm, I thought I gave Charlotte to the Gamecocks, but I should have an included a 49ers logo too. Thanks. I'll make sure to do that next time.

Charlotte doesn't really have a favorite college football team since there are so many DY transplants here. That said if Chapass Hole ever made a run for the National Championship you'd see their Walmart fans out in force in December like they are in March.

Besides the 49ers, I would say Clemson has the 2nd most fans here during football season. 85 South from Charlotte to Greenville, SC is a steady stream of orange on their game days.

Do you think it's Clem they like or his son?
