#8 RPI now....just leaped Stanford and Kentucky. Can imagine a win against Rice will maintain that lead tomorrow.

Now have to pay attention to Arkansas too. They went on an absolute rampage in the SEC tournament and are making a strong case for that last seed as well.

A better argument for our fans would be that vs top 50 rpi;

Usm is 11-5
Stanford is 10-8
Ark is 18-13

Kentucky hasn't a chance if we win tomorrow. I dont think Stanford does either if we win. If Ark beats lsu....i still give us the edge.

Something to watch out for is BYU. They just won the WCC. Due to their no-Sunday nonsense, whichever regional they play in will start on Thursday. So, if they come to Hattiesburg, we'll play a day early. But I don't expect that with many 3 seeds nearby.

Really unfair to the 3 other schools in the regional, as I'm sure they are all preparing for a Friday start (giving pitchers rest, etc).

I remember back in 08 the argument between USM and LSU fans as to who would get to host. The weekly chat for Rivals was spammed with questions between those two to the point they'd have to ask for no more about them.

We aren't unique. Every school has fans who care. Trust me, Kendall got spammed a lot harder last night for his BYU rant than anything else.


On a side note, I do think if we win today, it'll be hard for a team with top 8 RPI and the most wins in the country to not get the host. The committee has had some strange national seeds in the past, so wouldn't be surprised to see us hop in there along with Stanford. We'll see tomorrow. For today, let's get a trophy.

Win and it's done. The program with the most wins (tied with #1 Oregon State with 49) will be a national seed. I remember looking at the win counts for Oregon State and Louisville during the year and was really impressed. Well, we passed Louisville and can catch OSU today. One game at a time Eagles. Find a way today.

Both comparisons are good and relevant. 10-3 vs top 50 is great. Better than 11-5 so im glad they both dropped out of top 50 rpi. Beat rice and will be 11-3.

We haven't played a weekend set against a team that is as good as half the SEC/Big 12/ACC. We may not have played a single weekend game against a tournament team.

That's not to say we aren't as good as top teams in those conferences. But to get angry at someone who believes we wouldn't win those conferences is, as you said, in looney land. Hell, I don't think we would have

We have bozos in our fanbase just like every school. Most Southern Miss fans are constantly on the defensive because we get overlooked so often (whether it's warranted or not is another discussion).

I cringe when I see some of our fans argue with people on public forums and make us look whiney. Just win and let what happens happen.

Actually hope they host because they'd be our 2 seed in a hypothetical Hattiesburg Regional, which would suck for a number of reasons.

1) They'd probably beat us.
2) We'd hear non-stop all week about we have 10 fans or whatever from their suburban Jackson, white trash fanbase.
3) They'd take over PTP and then ***** about how we didn't give them 99% of the ticket allotment (like they did when they went to Lafayette in 2014)
4) Their alums are in general just a bunch of goobers that think they invented college baseball (yet they've never won a national title).

Give me Auburn or even OM. Hosting State would ruin the experience.
