Summit Division (NDSU, SDSU, USD, UND, Western Illinois plus Youngstown)
MVC Division (Missouri St, Illinois St, Southern Illinois, UNI, Indiana State, Murray St)
Western Illinois will scream the most bloody murder.

RE: Murray St to MVC?
Murray St won't move this fall, but in 2018.
Valpo would move this fall and becomes the 10th team.
Another team could be on the table for a 12th school in 2018. MplsBison will have a complete conniption, because it will be NDSU.
The OVC backfills with DII Lindenwood, which has fb.

RE: Murray St to MVC?
MVC has 10 teams now, and is only losing 1.
It will only add Murray St, for now, and call it a day.
Guessing it will move for 2017-18, with football remaining as an affiliate in the OVC for 2017.

No, Youngstown would, in that scenario.
It's not a game of MVC vs everyone else ... it's a game of minimizing travel distance.

Youngstown flys to every MVFC game. Every team flys to Youngstown. They are the true outlier.

Dakota 4 + UNI + WIU
The rest
You play the five in your division every year, then rotate three and three in the other division over four years.
UNI would scream bloody murder, and kick and cry. Might have to put Missouri St in the Dakota division instead.
I'd want western in our division

You should look at Jeff Bidwell's facebook video today on the subject.

Invite has not happened, this is a preliminary step should any invite come. Wont happen tomorrow
Still hearing it's Valpo and Murray. Two not one.

That is a fair point. But still, just because you get on a plane doesn't mean you can instantaneously teleport there. Farther distance is more cost, and longer flight.

I just put them there to be with the other Summit teams.
But like MissouriBears was saying, Western probably would want to be with Illinois schools and UNI.
The easiest and safest thing to do, I guess, is not to have any scheduling divisions and just rotate through all the opponents with no particular bias to distance.

Regardless if it happens tomorrow or next month ... it seems the safest play. It checks all these boxes:
- simple 1 for 1 replacement, getting them back to 10
- replaces a public for a public
- reasonably within footprint
- decent bball
- and has football to boot, which swings the balance of power in the MVFC back to the MVC schools

That's bureaucrat-speak.
"No offer has been made, this is just a preliminary step" = if and when the MVC does offer, the university president is authorized to accept the offer without needing to go back to the board.

I know thats why you did it. Honestly I am ok with any divisions so long as ISU gets UNI, Mo St, SIU, and WIU every year. The problem is those 5 schools will all want to play each other creating an issue for YSU and the Dakotas. My hunch is theyll figure something out the MVFC works really well together for the hodgepodge of schools it is, I think being the top FCS league helps that chemistry.

Mo St wants MVC schools on its schedule, not Dakota ones. Who has more power here? Certainly not W Illinois. Piss off Mo St and the MVC has a bigger problem on its hands. W Illinois was always against Slummit fb, so they caused a lot of problems to begin with.
The MVC schools have always made a stink about flying fb anywhere. NDSU and UND have to be flown to. USD and SDSU would be in bus range for some MVC fb teams.

RE: Murray St to MVC?
Doesn't the MVC struggle with a public private divide? I don't see schools like drake being ok with a distant public school without a private school in return. Valpo to the MVC makes sense as the Horizon had morphed into a Midwestern public school league plus Detroit, a legacy member back when the Horizon was private school dominated

Any Montana move involves at least five schools, maybe more. Mont, MSU, Idaho, EWU and likely Weber St are a package deal.

Just wondering ... why would IL St care about playing MO St, but not care about playing IN St?? Neither are very good football programs, neither are particularly close by (though IN St is a lot closer by miles), and both are in the MVC for all sports ...

That would mean going from 10 to 11. Doesn't make sense.
The simplest, safest play is to replace a public with a public, and maintain whatever balance existed with WSU.

This league would be resilent and much more unified:
Drake
Bradley
Loyola
Evansville
Valpo
Belmont
Oral Roberts
Detroit Mercy
Dayton, St Louis and Butler pre-2010 would have looked into it.
