If that's the issue that causes top candidates to avoid this job, then the next Georgetown head coach might be Patrick Ewing.

Jeff Lebo is still in, might be the longest coach in college basketball history with the worst results.

It's being reported that UMass has cancelled their press conference introducing Pat Kelsey. As in, fans and media came in, then were ushered right back out. What on earth is going on up there?

Evansville extended the contract of a coach who has gotten them to zero post season tournaments in 10 years. You're not alone.

UMass update: Jeff Goodman is reporting that Kelsey has had a change of heart and is not accepting the Minutemen job. Wowzers.

That is some fecal matter right there. They had the band and balloons and everything. I bet they even had Cookie Puss.

The AD Ryan Bamford is on at 5:30 PM - shortly

Kelsey told Bamford his reasons were personal in nature (i.e. NOT related to UMass).

Sad that our high dollar offer in 1999, is the same salary we offer today.

They sprinkled the fecal matter on the Cookie Puss after the news he had a change of heart.

Any lawyers in the house on how binding is a Memorandum of Understanding?

Lower profile than Winthrop/Kelsey/UMass but basically the same thing happened with South Dakota/Craig Smith/Drake yesterday. Multiple media outlets reported Drake will hold a presser to announce the hiring. Drake told its player. South Dakota also called a player meeting for Smith to say his goodbye's. The Coyote players waited 90 minutes for Craig Smith to emerge and announce he's staying. USD anted up a (relatively) huge offer at the 11th hour to keep their coach when his departure was a done deal.

I feel like John Thompson would be the man to lead DePaul out of depression but they're not open. I bet he'd revive a Duquesne/Fordham type program.

I really had high hopes for him when he was an assistant at Clemson, and had he not already taken the HC job at WKU he likely would have replaced Rick Barnes when he jumped to Texas. His stint at UGA really took the shine off his star.

That's crazy what happened at UMass. Still puzzled why you fire a guy that has the best returning team in the conference.

Interesting that both OK State and Cal filled their vacancies by promoting one of their assistants rather than search outside. That slows down the carousel, if only by a little.

And for what it's worth Rice did likewise. James Harden (who played for him) introducing former assistant coach Scott Pera this morning.
