Troy Caupain spoke well in post-game presser
Troy was very well spoken in his post game comments

Team line was that they couldn't get to the free throw line in the second half and missed shots led to transition and got UCLA rolling.

Whatever Troy decides to do in life he's going to be really successful due to his character and his personality. He's only 21 and probably has a long overseas basketball career ahead of him but if for some reason that doesn't work out he's going to do well.

Not getting the the free throw line was a huge deal. UC kept attacking, but didn't get any calls in the second half. I can't remember a game in the NCAA tournament where one team has 2 fouls in a half.

The officiating was very one sided in the second half. Some very obvious calls for UC were missed. Maybe the officials were influenced by the crowd?

I think more the west coast officiating (Kent State had a lot of calls go against them and it often seems that East Coast teams playing on the west coast against west coast teams get homered frequently, so I was expecting it and was surprised the calls were fair in the 1st half).

Crowd was louder for UCLA, but UC had a lot of cheers for big plays too. But it is amazing how much stuff called in the 1st half that UCLA got away with in the 2nd half, while UC got called for everything. When the big freshman for UCLA was practically out of bounds under the basket and we had 3 guys surrounding him and the refs bailed him out with the foul call, I had enough. Honestly seemed like the refs were trying to make sure the tourney didn't lose another blue blood.

But UCLA earned it by making big shots and we didn't slow them down and let them play at their speed and then we are behind and have to speed up to score and that only helps UCLA's cause.

That was a rare 4 to's to 1 assist game for TC. I doubt he had a 4 to 1 ration his entire career. That said, Kyle needed to knock down some shots. That hurt more than anything against a team with that kind of firepower.

The officials made sure that the Zags didn't get bounced by NW so I guess I shouldn't be shocked that they would protect UCLA too.
Shameful that they can't put away bias and just be arbiters of the rules fairly.

RE: Troy Caupain spoke well in post-game presser
Although this nonsense about the refs being biased is ridiculous. UC got beat by a better team that shot the lights out in the second half. Our vaunted defense was not good in the second half, and was particularly not good in denying three point shooting, which has been an Achilles heal for UC the entire season. Ball was too quick for Troy Caupain and Kyle Washington was a non-factor in the game, as he often is against talented and mobile teams. UCLA has a chance to win it all. Obviously I wanted the Bearcats to win last night, and our first half play was excellent, but UCLA had more weapons and ultimately prevailed. The refs had nothing to do with it.

You can't know that any more than anyone could know that they did. They are a factor, whether they were a large enough factor to have been the difference between a win or loss is anyone's guess.

Why would he not be well spoken?

Because a lot of college athletes talk like they write their finals in crayon.

Its human nature. Another reason why location is such a huge deal in the draw. Imagine if in an alternative universe we instead drew UCLA in Indianapolis...

#40 - the big red headed kid for UCLA - had a protective Harry Potter charm cast on him in the pregame....he could repeatedly bump, go over the back and extend his arm to push Bearcats in the back on rebounds and they simply refused to call him for anything.
