RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
Rice may return everyone but C Andrew Drone. Drone played a lot during sophomore and junior years, but played sparingly this past year. The only other two question marks are Egor Koulechov and Robert Martin Jr, both SG/SF. Koulechov (first-team all conference) transferred in from AzSt, so he is graduating in May and is considering going pro (either NBA or, more likely, Europe). Robert Martin Jr. is a scorer from Boston who played at the Tilton School (Nerlens Noel, Wayne Selden, Georges Niang, etc.) who looked OK at the beginning of the season but barely played from January onward... I don't think he was hurt, because he always dressed. His dad is an assistant at Northeastern so he might be a transfer candidate.
Because we only have one scholarship that is definitely open, we didn't sign anyone in the fall. Assuming we lose either Koulechov or Martin in addition to Drone, I would expect us to sign a guy out of high school and try to get a grad transfer... Probably one guard and one forward/center.
We should be good no matter what though as we return 4/5 starters and key contributors off the bench like Lott, Douglas, Harrison, and Adams.
