RE: University plans iconic bridge
It's ugly as sin. Reminds me more of the bridge in Sarasota than a railroad-university bridge. Is there anything about that bridge that reminds you of the U of M? No M bridge, no leaping Tiger, no nothing. It's not even blue. But it WILL end in amphitheaters on each side. Whoop-de-do

The best way to get students to walk up those stairs will be to put a Starbucks in the middle of it. I am serious.

If they had done this many years ago, it would have saved lives.

Maybe she is confused. I recall numerous pedestrian deaths caused by students trying to cross Central. I don't recall anybody getting killed on Zack Curlin, Southern or the RR tracks.

1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
2. You obviously can't please everybody.

correct. Central is where people were killed or injured. I know of no deaths on the train tracks.

There's the old urban legend of "I knew a guy, who knew a guy who tried to cross by going through a slow moving train. When he jumped on, it sped up and he was too afraid to jump off. Rode it to Corinth."

I know a guy who did. I was there when he jumped on. He ended up in Germantown. Really wasn't that exciting of a story.

He was shithoused and not the smartest person even when sober.

she is always confused. there has never been a death on the tracks.

now I know of a couple of football players form the late 70s-early 80s that jumped on the train there while it was moving slowly. the train sped up and they didn't get off til Corinth. the names will not be given to protect the guilty

Surely. They had to wait 2 days before they jumped a train heading back this way.
