But carry on. You guys were still the best team in this conference.

I'm not the only one who pointed out, and stating we were "not really competitive" in the 2nd half, while indeed a generic statement, is just flat out wrong.

It was also pointed out by a few of us that we'd likely need to put up 70+ to win, and some people thought we'd have no chance at that because ACC teams, by and large, couldn't do it. So the fact that we actually DID put up 70+ AND had a chance to win in the last few possessions suggests we did a ton of things right in this one.

RE: UNCW vs. UVA 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
I not once said you guys didnt do things right. I was also not one who said you had no chance of putting up over 70 against them. In fact, I specifically said you want the game to be 75+. At 71 you fell just short of that. At the beginning you guys followed the game plan to victory. UVA was forced to go small and it worked for them. It sounds to me like you are combining multiple opinions from multiple people and calling them all one.

As far as the "not really competitive" we can agree to disagree. For the first half of the second half you guys were competitive. Once UVA started to increase that lead (with 12 minutes left) it never felt or looked like UNCW was going to ever grab the lead back or win the game, and that was where I was coming from about not being competitive. They kept you at arms length. I do agree you just lost to a better team that day and that is that. It is how most basketball games go, the better team wins.

So, a one possession game with like a minute to go isn't being competitive? I think it's time for you to go back to your own boards.

Relax fellas, Dan is fine here. I think what he's trying to say is that UVA controlled the second half, and they did. Once they got the lead, they kept it, stretched it, and even when tested never relinquished it. Understand we are all still testy, it hurts. Also hurts our coach didn't take long to meet with his first potential new gig!!

He still emphasized that we were not competitive in the second half. And I'm sorry, I like dan10, but that is pure bs.

2 points under a minute not being competitive is one of the most absurd statements I've ever heard. I guess he isn't really used to seeing competitive games being a Drexel fan though.

If by competitive you mean we were back and forth with UVA then no we were not competitive because we never were able to take the lead. I think most people would say though that it was a competitive game because if one or two different things had changes we would have won that game. To me, that is a competitive game. But I appreciate your differing viewpoint Dan!

Suddenly, I don't even care about this game anymore and the idea that Keatts may go to NC State makes me furious.

Same. They don't deserve a coach like Keatts.

I will be disappointed, but I will understand. On the other hand, I will be furious if he takes any of our players with him.

I do too. I can't really fault the guy for leaving if he is offered and accepts. These are his prime earning years and the man has 2 young kids. Gotta make that money for your family while you can. If the ACC can more than double your pay you gotta do what you gotta do.

I dont think he would raid our cubbard. I would hope he would make a solid recommendation and encourage that recommendation to accept.

Taking current players with him would violate unspoken professional courtesies. Recruits are fair game.

RE: UNCW vs. UVA 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
I won't blame any players or Keatts for the moves they make. It will be upon UNCW to make a hire good enough they want to stay. We knew when we hired him we were trying to change the style of the program for the future. And we knew success at UNCW meant a likely move up. Sucks to be a mid major, but that's reality.

Jimmy captured lightning in a bottle with Keatts and we reaped the benefits. Now is the hard part. Can we build a program using continuity ala VCU? Or do we end up with the best coach available and maybe change direction in hopes of winning.

Too bad he couldn't have filled our coffers with at least one NCAA win before he left!

What is hilarious but not hilarious is NC State probably could pay Keatts' cheap buyout with money they're given from other ACC teams success in the tournament.

UNCW could stop some of it. They choose whether to release players from their scholarships, so they can choose to let them leave but put restrictions to where (ie wherever Keatts goes or conference rivals)

When Brownell left, he took our previous #1 recruit (rising sophmore) and our incoming #1 recruit.

I remember the Duggins kid. Who was on the roster that he took with him?

John David Gardner? I think that's who it was. Can't remember for sure.
