I just don't see the guard play, defense, shooting, inside play that would give anyone optimism.
So, would it be good for the aforementioned players to return? or would you rather see freshmen players like Enoch, Nickelberry, and Johnson develop and blend with returning players like Clergeot, Randall, Rivers, etc...
We need a culture change. We need energy, skill and big time playmakers. I'm just unsure it could happen with certain players returning. What do yall think?
We need everything.
A Point guard who can take it to the hole, who can hit the open man, hit a consistent jump shot and run the offense.
A two guard who can shoot and take it to the hole.
A big ugly at center/PF
Start there and see what we can do.
Update that to TWO big uglies for PF and C, especially with Chad leaving.
"Needs? Gotta be a trick question. All we GOT is needs!"

Well, Tubby should be able to promise immediate playing time.
Come to Memphis and get the **** kicked out of you BUT you will get to play a lot, lol.

Yeah, like 40 minutes per game. Need a center/pf or two, a sf if kj leaves, a pg who can go right, and a 3 point threat.

Yeah I started posting something like this earlier in another thread. It's unfortunate this is the state of the program, but it is what it is. This team is missing so many pieces. The guys we add for next year better be able to take it to the rack, pop a 3 and play some defense. Otherwise...get ready for more of the same next season or worse. We lack depth, but even worse, the guys getting PT have almost no distinguishable skills relative to their competition.

Exactly. I am most interested to see the skillset of the newcomers only because I know the returning guys as not as skilled as most think they are. Nickelberry appears to have playmaking ability. Hopefully Johnson can shoot and Enoch is a Cincy type player with a big man's edge. All of these player need to have some "dog" in them and skills to match. If we do have players returning expecting heavy minutes, I hope they are either challenged or beaten out by the newcomers. This team needs an extreme makeover.

We should have more depth next year than we had this year even without Chad and Dedric, but what we're deep in, mostly, is guys who should be watching high level DI games from the bench . . . or the stands.

I think so, or certainly expect it. If it doesn't turn out that way, I'd say I'd be disappointed with an eye brow raised, probably not buying all the "we-are-young" stuff.
I think we surprise some folks. Just my opinion.

If Markel wants to even sniff the NCAA tournament he'll need to graduate and transfer.
So your complaining about the job Tubby did during the season on one hand they saying the all the players suck except Dedric on the other...

Depth and Tubby didn't coach 'em up as well as advertised.

So if Dedric leaves we have no viable options according to you and Tubby was supposed to "Coach them up". Sounds like you need to make up your mind.

And the depth issue was self inflicted. You can't win with a team of walk ons.

No, if DL leaves that's the best player gone. Left with average point guard and KJ who can be pretty good but not as good as his brother. Jimario is just too slender. Markel can be very good but something went horribly wrong with him late.
Unsure on what we have with Clergeot.
Azab? As far as I can tell he was largely unrecruited.
Tubby failed to add any meaningful depth this year so all I see are incoming freshmen and whatever he can scrape up late.
Tubby really didn't coach up what he had and he failed to round out this year's roster and is not exactly setting the woods on fire with 2017 class.
What do you think?

Can I be the 'you' that answers?
If so, I'd like to say...we are going to sink to sad depths, or just manage to tread water, all based on who we recruit.
If this is not irony at its finest, I don't know what is. Recruiting is said to be Tubby's main weakness. He may be given a chance like never before to dispel that myth or reinforce it as fact.

Well until the recruiting class/defections/transfers situation shakes out, who really knows what to expect. I don't feel all warm and fuzzy like everything will be okay though.
Frankly my expectation is upward progress with ZERO excuses about recruiting, roster depth, fans, distractions, expectations or schedule.
