That would be great for the city's economy so you can see a role player who chose to leave the Tigers.

City's economy...pffft...I hope it's not hinging on an NCAA weekend.

It's only about a $30M economic impact for that weekend. But Avery is worth it right?

That's according to Malvin Gipson, executive director of the Memphis Sports Council.

$3 million sounds kinda low to me. Not that I'm an expert, but ticket sales alone could be close to $3M.

Let's just say it's 300 total for tickets to the entire session
And let's say they sell 18000

That's 5.4M

right exactly, the entire sum of money doesn't go to the host/forum/etc. but i lowballed the ticket figure when you consider suites/etc. so even if only 20% of that somehow finds its way back to the city, that's still 1M

Tickets are sold. That money's already in the bank. If UK and UNC get knocked out (fingers crossed), the impact is on hospitality. No more than $5M difference - no matter the teams.

But, see, I might save $100 on a ticket. Heck, Memphis has hosted events for years and I've never seen a red cent of that money come my way. And, really, who can put a price on Avery?
