I know Mempiss fans don't want to hear this, but there it is. I just declared what everybody in the room already knows.
Thanks

RE: Is tubby on the hot seat?
The thin bench is not the cause for Tiger failure this season. The thin bench is the effect of certain causes.
The possible causes are:
1. We do not have sufficient returning starting talent,
2. Tubby did not recruit sufficient talent to allow adequate subbing or to replace current starters,
3. Tubby makes bone headed decisions (like the last two games),
4. Injuries,
5. Combination thereof.

Lack of depth in college basketball is a problem for practice.
At least in football, you have 4x the number of scholarships you need to run a full in scrimmage.
In basketball, you need 10 and only have 13.
And if you go into the season with 3 open scholarships because of early NBA departures, and then you lose 3 guys to injury, that leaves you with 8 bodies for practices, not to mention the fact that these players get hurt or sick over the season. Jalen Adams and Vance Jackson didn't practice all week because of the flu.
How do you teach offense to 6 players?

Yeah we got a lot going on as well. Just not a good season for us health wise. UConn and Memphis are victims to injury. While SMU and UCF are victims to transfers.

The AAC will get 2 in. Unless Houston wins the AAC tourney. There's a way for 3 plus an auto bid to get in if Houston wins out, and Mrmphis wins the AAC tourney. Only 4 decent programs out of the 11. Tubby would be off the hot seat if Memphis can win the AAC. If not? Maybe time for Tubby to leave. He's getting old.
Cheers!

Yes I'm joking. A post about a guy in his first year in 4th place in conference on the hot seat is pretty ridiculous. I don't think Tubby is a good coach, but I don't think he will be canned after 1 season.

So a future HOF coach isn't good? That's just flat out not true. He can coach with the best of them. It's the recruiting that the fanbase is wait in see though. Think we have the #4 rated class in the conference behind SMU, UConn, and Temple. We are looking to add more this offseason. Be cool if we can get the 4* bigman we been on.

Plus the way he is recruiting is good enough to be top 4 in this league on a year to year basis and competing for the title and at-large bids. It's still the American and the majority of the teams don't recruit at a high level.
The bigger picture for us is deep runs in March.

Tubby won the lottery when he got to coach Kentucky that year. He's been living on that glory ever since. He was mecicore at best at Minnesota and Texas Tech. He's up there in age. I don't see him doing much in the short time he will be at Memphis. I could be wrong, we shall see.

Tubby is recognize for all the teams he has taken to the NCAA tourney. Tulsa, Georgia, UK, Minny, and Texas Tech. That last two jobs are hard as hell to win at and he took those teams to the NCAA's and even put out UCLA in the first round.
If you are going to make a statement like that, at least provide more substance. That was an lazy assessment and conclusion.

I'm just saying a tomato could win it all at Kentucky. Is there a program anywhere with more built in success? Tulsa used to have a very good basketball program, and Minnesota and Texas Tech had some solid years before Tubby. Tech had Dickey and Bobby Knight do well before Tubby and Minnesota was a final 4 team and always solid leading up to the time before Tubby. Tubby always takes jobs at programs like Memphis:very good, highly supported programs.
Cheers!

Your argument is going down the drain. You shouldn't have engaged in this with that statement.
None of what you said supports anything on why he is going to be in the HOF. Usually when a coach takes a job at another school, it is because the previous coach put the program in the crapper or moved on. Tulsa and Kentucky were the only jobs that the previous coach moved on. The other jobs were in a bad spot from the previous coach and he came in and turned them into NCAA tourney teams. He got fired from UK because of not meeting expectations (championships). His firing at Minnesota was unfair. He had just upset UCLA in the previous round before losing the next round. Minnesota was trying to strike first with the new hot coach in Richard Pitino. Hasn't really worked out that well.
Otherwise please tell me how he isn't a good coach.

Congratulations on the strong come-back win Huskies and Husky fans. Two once strong programs fighting for relevance. Good rally for the win, Huskies.

RE: Is tubby on the hot seat?
Tubby will be in the HOF. He is a gentleman and excels at strategy and teaching and is good with game tactics (better than our previous two coaches IMO). He won games in the NCAA Tourney.
The problem with Tubby is he will not do what it takes within the rules to maximize success. He will not sully his hands with the slimy business of recruiting - including not giving Keelon Lawson (the father of a quartet of talented sons) an Asst Coach job. He does not consider intense program promotion as part of his job.
Tubby is at the point of his life where he can do what he wants and how he wants to do it with little risk. If it means Memphis underachieves as a result, then so be it.

A post about a guy in his first year in 4th place in conference on the hot seat is pretty ridiculous. I don't think Tubby is a good coach, but I don't think he will be canned after 1 season.
Cheers!
Tubby won the lottery when he got to coach Kentucky that year. He's been living on that glory ever since. He was mecicore at best at Minnesota. He's up there in age. I don't see him doing much in the short time he will be at Memphis. I could be wrong, we shall see.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Tech was in shambles before Tubby..... 8-23. You don't know what you are talking about.
