2017 Football Recruiting (Thread II)
This is the signing day first post which is accurate through 2/4/2017:

Unofficial Signing Day Thread

I'm setting up this thread to hold posts for tomorrow's signing day activities.

I'll try to update this top post with names as they come in. If I remember correctly, players started signing at 7:00 a.m. EST.

I'll start with our mid-year JUCO transfers (3) and early enrolled (1). The three JUCOs + Sow have been announced this morning (2/1).

1. Tyler LaBarbera, DT, College of DuPage

2. Samuel Dervil OT, Coffeyville, C.C.

3. Shaq Jones LB/SS Iowa Western C.C.

4. Sidy Sow DT/OT Champlain Regional Football, Lennoxville, QC

***************

5. Preston Hutchinson QB Mason, OH

6. Francisco Pedrozo OL Louisville, OH (not KY)

7. Gunnar Oakes TE Swanton, OH (first surprise)

8. C. J. Hunt DT Avon, IN

9. Blake Bogan WR Grand Blanc, MI

10. Karmi Mackey RB Stettner, FL

11. Bobby Brown III DB Gibsonton, FL (second surprise)

12. Desean Boyd LB Detroit, MI

13. Carthell Flowers DB Syracuse, NY (third surprise)

It is now 8:00 a.m. EST. Still awaiting about 5 more publicly committed recruits... Plus hopefully a surprise or two or three...

It is now almost 9:30:

14. Russ Vaden DB Louisville, KY

15. Desmond Kelly DT Dodge City C.C.

16. Quian Williams WR Moore, OK (had not been publicly announced for EMU).

17. Greg Jean WR Fort Lauderdale, FL

18. Ville Vallisti DE Diablo Valley C.C. (Originally from Finland; had not been previously announced for EMU)

19. Jairus Grissom QB River Rouge, MI

20. Terry Myrick LB Austell, GA

21. Jeffrey Hubbard S Atlanta, GA

(Post signing day):

22. Meiko Dotson CB Georgia Tech (transfer).

*****************************************************************************************************

*******************************

I'm starting this thread as we continue to have problems with the main 2017 football recruiting thread...

2017 football visits are well underway for EMU and many other schools. Yes, coaches don't miss a beat.

I'll edit this top thread post for verbals:

1. Preston Hutchinson

Pro-Style Quarterback

2. Desean Boyd
Detroit, MI (Cass Technical)

Nice commit, but that's enough DT's. Let's get another OT before signing day.

One thing about having a hard cap of 25 LOIs, is that it is possible for a team to give out one scholarship per position (e.g., 1 QB, 1 TE, 1C, 2 OT, 2 DT, 2 DE, etc.) and have a few extra to bolster a particular position or positions.

If a coach adheres to that strategy things will probably work out pretty well.

What I did was run a sentence into a link, kind of like a rub play in football.

There was supposed to be a space between 82635 and Will announce...

His brother a QB and him visited on October 9 according to Moore Football Facebook. Had back to back seasons of over 600 yards and 14 TDS over the past two years. 6'3, 205.

This kid, a h.s. DB, visited with his teammate in early Dec. and apparently had an excellent visit.

He has a soft commit to MTSU which changed coaches...

http://www.scout.com/college/football/re...ools?s=343

IF he signs with us, I'd assume OT (!!) and TE are the two most important recruiting needs. I like the kid Hall from Dakota H.S., a WR with good length and very good hands.

Hm but unless we switch positions we have 3 WRs verbals if the WR from Louisville committed.

With only 2 weeks to go, I am surprised we have 10 available scholarships to hand out. Hopefully Creighton is very selective......

Ideally the staff I believe would like to sign a JUCO for the defensive end spot.

RE: 2017 Football Recruiting (Thread II)
From the WMU board:

"RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
Esposito is out working the recruting trail already. Just offered EMU commit DE Ali Fayad out of Dearborn."

I hate this ****.

O/T: But beat the s*it out of the Broncos tonight.

(Reminds me of what long time sports radio host, Ken Beatrice, way back before it was so common, would say about the LOI program. Coaches are almost like thieves they would otherwise steal other schools recruits up to the day they started school. Not a whole lot of morality in recruiting. They needed the LOI program to protect themselves from other coaches.).
