Would have lost without them. The students represented.

RE: Official Alabama State game thread
Robert Brown said in the postgame interview that he's trying to play too fast and nt letting the game come to him.

This is probably the issue with most of our starters. The pressure is on and they all feel like they need to prove something. They are still young & literally everyone we play will be foaming at the mouth to beat us. It's that big NCAA target on our back.

You also have to look at the number of minutes played by our team; Haase is really spreading the wealth. At some point, you have to reign that in and give our scorers more minutes.

Yes, Brown and Lee aren't playing like they did at the end of last season. I thought UAB played a decent game tonight. ASU guards were really quick, really fast, and dangerous.

UAB is now 48-0 against the SWAC.

I wonder what Haase and the players think we they read this board? I should have asked Mehenti last night when I saw him at Walmart.

I suspect ASU is one of the top four teams in the SWAC. Any one of the four teams can upset favorites, as Mississippi State found out. On the flip side, KenPom has the SWAC rated as the worst conference in college basketball.

Left way too many points at the FT line tonight. Still not playing to our potential but that's a good team we beat tonight. Got to get better and keep grinding as Coach Haase likes to say.

Very impressed by the student turnout. Thought they could've been louder throughout the game, but the team not playing well dampened their excitement. Hopefully they'll continue to turnout like that.

ASU will probably turn out to be a pretty decent team so I'm not really sweating the fact that we barely beat them. What is concerning is that our team clearly isnt playing anywhere near their potential. I think they will get it figured out but unfortunately with our relatively weak OOC schedule and our weak conference, we dont have the luxury of dropping too many games if we even want to be in the discussion for an at large bid.

And if Tosin is reading this: you played WAY better with the mohawk. Bring it back!

I don't know if this has been said yet, but great job students!!! You really showed up tonight!!!

As for the season ticket holders or whoever owns the tickets behind the team benches. If you are not going to come to the games and just want to donate money give the tickets away. It's really annoying UAB basketball games are that empty.

I noticed some comments about the perimeter defense. It was actually good. ASU hit many shots with hands in their faces. They just knocked them down. They came to play and made shots. They didn't have too many wide open looks. I can't fault our guys there. The miss free throws and turnovers that bugged me the most.

Dirk Williams is going to be special, He had 10 pts in the first half and really hustled and brought some intensity. Of course he didnt play in the second half. If he did it wasnt for very long.

Then UAB can stop scheduling Monday night games with (seemingly) no-name opponents.

It is what it is. A Monday night game at 8pm is going to yield this sort of attendance. I couldn't go tonight and I've rarely missed a home game since I moved to Birmingham in 2006.

That's bullsh*t. Teams all over the country play on Monday vs non big teams and pack the place out. Don't give the it's because who they play. Regardless of who it is show up. MVC teams WCC teams sell out vs small schools.

Not to mention this was the first home game! Sorry it's not Memphis or unc come to the games.

RE: Official Alabama State game thread
This UAB Team has yet to unleash itself. Steady as she goes. It is going to be a long season. They are in the middle of a four game in ten days early season schedule. They are having to study a fresh set of scouting reports every three days. That is always difficult. Hopefully they are resting their legs. Two more games against Troy and Jacksonville State and then to a tournament in Florida against Illinois in the first round. Interesting. Grueling! Can they become tough enough to win against Troy and JSU and win against Illinois to advance to the finals of the Emerald Coast Classic? Tough few days ahead. I hope they all make the necessary adjustments towards activating their individual killer instincts on both ends of the court and go way ahead on the scoreboard instead of lollygagging around to the final seconds with a one point win/loss.
