Seriously? Germany was awarded a penalty kick that could have been called either way. And then they inexplicably missed a wide open net. First PK in 23 tries the Germans have ever missed in WWC play.

Then the U.S. got one call that was definitely a penalty, but it was close as to whether the American player was inside or outside the penalty area when fouled. Could have gone either way.

The rest of the game seemed fairly even to me.

We made our PK, then added on a beautiful one late in the game. All the bad calls in the world wouldn't have changed that result.

The US went up 1-0 on a call that was for certain outside the box. Take that away and who knows. Also, supposedly the US player should have gotten a red card on the take down. Glad they won though and more power to em.

The German coach was very classy too, which was nice.

Johnston could have gotten a red card for pulling down Popp. There was no doubt about that being a penalty. Luckily, the U.S. goalie happens to be a total whacko, and got into Sasic's head.

They let the game play very physical. Missed a significant hold and take down in the box that could have been another penalt kick for us.

USA controlled the game. That's why they won.

The PK that Julie Johnston condeded was about as textbook a penalty call as you can get. Obviously pulled down Popp. Germans got screwed there too. Should have been a straight red for Johnston for denial of a goal scoring oppurtunity.

yup. Should've been red.

I was shocked that Solo didn't get carded for wasting time before the PK. It definitely threw off Sasic. Great gamesmanship by Solo.

Cool RE: USA scores
Late in the game the USA did a great job of killing time off the clock and not giving Germany an opportunity to score with time running out.

Yep. Germany averaged almost 12 shots on goal. I think they had ONE last night. The USA women flat out whipped them.
