The pig statue is called Floyd of Rosedale and is awarded to the winner of the University of Iowa-University of Minnesota football game.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Iowa State University, although I'm sure it would bug their fans no end to confuse them with the hated University of Iowa and the hated B1G.

Typical Memphis fan. Have you never heard of a site called "Wikipedia," that gathers together the sum of all human knowldge, edited by volunteers who have absolutely no knowledge of what they write and edit to make sure that no bias is inserted. It's a great bastion against the tyranny of scientists with their peer review and their so-called facts that try to turn mere theories like gravity into actual fact. I understand that many Memphis graduates go on to work at Wikipedia, second only to TaskRabbit as a post-graduation employer of Memphis alumni and just ahead of Direct Communications.

Wikipedia will enlighten you, and wipe away your misunderstandings of Iowa. I would have to believe that I, as a white person, have an innate understanding of that whitest of states that no mere "facts" can overrule.

Iowa, also known as "Baja Minnesota" or sometimes "East of Omaha," was settled in the early 17th century by brave pioneers known today as the "First Children of the Corn." They were led by a wise, benevolent pig named Floyd, who told them to found a great city and name it Des Moines, and therein to build a university and call it Iowa State. They honor Floyd unto this day, singing him their song of praise after a victory as they know it all started with him.

Look, I know it's been difficult for Memphis fans since the NCAA vacated your memories along with your banners, and you have gaps in your knowledge as a result. I sympathize, truly I do, and I'll do my best to eplain more of the history of Iowa State a little later. Right now I have to go to work and supervise my employees (another concept I'll explain for the Memphis grads). Don't worry, working together we can make you whole again.

You could have saved your smack about the state of Iowa for someone who cares. I'm from Memphis and New Orleans and have zero interest in the state of Iowa other than as a place where I work, and zero interest in its sports teams.

If you want to bug ISU fans, post a pic of the Univ. of Iowa's hog statue on an ISU board and pretend you think its theirs. Sort of like posting a pic of Bear Bryant on an Auburn site and congratulating them on their storied football coach.

As I posted Saturday after your win, congrats and good luck in the tournament.

Ah, poor Memphian, then let us continue your enlightenment regarding Iowa State.

Historians and archaeologists disagree whether Floyd of Rosedale was an actual talking pig or merely a mythical figure, but all are in accord that he is the Founding Porker of Iowa State University. There is no "University of Iowa." Iowa has two universities; Iowa State, located in Des Moines, is a member of the AAU and Big Ten and a world leader in Corn Science and Swine Husbandry (don't ask). Its athletics teams are known as "Hawkeyes," after a famous combat surgeon; as Iowa has no artists of its own (everyone there grows corn and listens to polka music) they use a logo they stole from Southern Mississippi. Famous graduates include Walter O'Reilly and Mary Ann Summers. Northern Iowa University, located in Davenport Iowa, trains the state's cosmetologists and prison guards, filling the same role as Auburn University here in Alabama.

More later.
