Um...Rice is not that bad anymore. Not great yet, but not bad either. Thin roster, yes, but we're starting to show some moxie. Will not be an easy game for you in Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston unless our shooting is completely off. Our new head Coach Mike Rhoades is doing some magic with little to work with, and he's starting to show some surprising success. He knows you'll be ready for us after your loss tonight. And he's glad. He wants to beat good teams. We took Middle Tenn to 2OT and won tonight, so chance we may be tired Saturday. Other than that, be ready to play a good game.

Are you his spokesman?
Kind of. He directly addressed Saturday's game with your team after our game tonight during his post game comments on the radio interview. That's what I was paraphrasing in my post above. See you Saturday, blazers. Should be a great game atmosphere!

Sometimes I wonder how a fanbase at a school like UAB can be so damn stupid. This team has worked it's ass off to improve this year, and has lost exactly 3 conference games. On the road. By less than ten total points. These games are going to be learning lessons for the future. We are still in great shape this year. Take a step back.

We are still in good shape. It's just so frustrating to watching your team blow 10-12 point leads on the road twice against UNT and UTEP (this after leading for about 75% of both games as a total)!! We can still win the conference, we just need some help now. I think we will have to win out to win CUSA in the regular season now though..

We looked *really* good for a lot of the first half last night, and then the bottom fell through after that. I don't know what happened. I guess we got complacent and thought we could coast the rest of the way. We've got to get control of the boards and limit 2nd chance points. That's what killed us last night. We were in position for rebounds, we just didnt go after them aggresively. Turnovers in key situations didn't help, either.

We should fire Haase and beg David Hobbs to take the job.

Good Lord people. it's a conference road loss to a descent team. Move on. Rice will not be easy. It rarely was easy game there when they were bad. Now they are a descent team as well.

It's a young team. Stay on the roller coaster. The ride will be fun and you will be rewarded in the end.

We did. It happens. we are still a young team, and that isn't going to change until next year. We will have our ups, we will have our downs. We have had a shot in every conference game, and at the end of the day that is ultimately what you really want. Next year was always the the year, but we sure as hell improved fat this year.

Before conference play started, how many on this board would have believed we'd be 9-3 in conference at this point. My guess is just about nobody.

I certainly didn't think we would've been this good in conference.

The fact we've lost our three games by 8 points total is very impressive.

Ya'll may not agree with me, but I think Brown and Mehinti lost the game for us last night. They shot a combined 33% from the field. Mehinti only had four rebounds. They were getting offensive rebounds and scoring in the paint on us all night long - that directly falls on Mehinti (as well as our other post players but he takes the brunt of the blame IMO).

I hate losing too. I was pissed off after both the UTEP and UNT games, as I think they were games that we should've won. This is coming from a very pessimistic guy through the first half of the season: you have to look at the bigger picture. If we go on a 6 game losing streak, I'll jump back off the bandwagon with you, but for now keep it together. This team still has a good chance to win both the regular season and post season CUSA championships.

This. Nobody likes to see their team lose, but this is about more than wins and losses right now. There is a bigger picture as far as this year, and years to come go. It is our third loss in our last twelve games. Our veteran team last year got smashed in that very gym. It's gonna be okay. It really is. We let one get away, and that's what young teams do.

Not having cj also played a role in the outcome last night. Of the 9 guys in the box score last night, only one player was an upperclassmen. If you can't see beyond the mere fact that we lost a game, then you are very shortsighted. Don't ever try to open a business, it won't work out well for you.

I hate unrealistic expectations as well. WTH are you expecting with 9 underclassmen? I want to win every game but losing a tough road game by three to a descent team with more upperclassmen I'm not getting all torn up over it. I was hopeful we would split on the road and hold serve at home this season. I even expected to lose to La Tech and ODU at home with a team this young.

CJ has played a major x factor role for us off the bench in CUSA. He's become pretty efficient and gets us about 8 and 6 in 15-25 minutes. He hasn't caused trouble and seems to have embraced his role. He was pretty terrible the first half of the year. He has rebounded well, no pun intended.

With CJ we probably win. That said the birth of your child is a lot more important than a basketball game.

Mike Anderson didn't feel that way when Marques Lewis wanted to fly home to Milwaukee.

With freshman and sophomores, no conference road game is a foregone conclusion. It is unreasonable expectation to expect this team not to have WTF losses. No team in UAB history has made it thru the conference schedule without a WTF loss.

And while North Texas does not have a good record, they have already beaten La tech and gave WKU a very tough game on the road, leading most of the game. Our team went in,kicked some ass early, and then thought they could coast, which is typical of young teams. A valuable lesson learned that will likely result in a better prepared team the next time it happens.

Question for those who watched or carefully listened to the game--- who was turning it over and was it sloppy passing, bad dribbling-traveling,, or what??

I didn't get to watch the entire game, but we missed a lot of put-backs and chip-shots in the paint.

Also, we gave up too many offensive rebounds, and North Texas scored 23 second-chance points as a result. That's the game IMO.

Even though we had a slight height advantage, North Texas still had the stronger front-court. This is where CJ would have made the biggest impact in the game.
