Bingo. The FF/City need to invest in something to show the other side.

Kind of hard to do when UAB refuses to accept a $10m facility.

That's shocking to me. Bentley has no backbone and goes with majority so I'm surprised he went against Jr.

"Staying out of it" is not a viable position when it supports evil intent. We "stayed out" of the war against Hitler's Germany for two full years to our ultimate regret. It is often said that "For evil to win out, it takes good doing nothing (to stop it)". Bentley has a chance to DO something GOOD to stop evil. Doing NOTHING is not doing GOOD.

For those who love conspiracy theories, do you suppose Troy's AD might have been told by someone on the UA system BOT that the UAB staff might be available after the 2014 season?

The only way we win this battle is before the court of public opinion.

We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people.

Is it when it comes to us, though? And besides, he's a lame duck.

That said, Bentley not getting involved is good...right?

Bentley is indeed a "lame duck" as far as Governor is concerned. Is that the limit of his ambition though? He can go back to the state legislature or he can run for the U.S. Senate seat that Shelby may retire from at some point. If a Republican is elected President, he might be nominated for a government post in medicine or as an ambassador to some minor nation (that needs a doctor).

Jimmie Stephens is a 2x Samford grad from Bessemer. Carrington didn't make a lot of friends on the Jeffco Commission, but he's still a commissioner.

There is no need for Bentley to get involved when this has been pushed through by our own people. Hell, there is no need for Jr. to publicly get his hands dirty when we're doing the dirty work for him. This situation is rotten from the inside out.

oh yea, they had to restart the hockey program. they shut the program down. and had to be restart the hocky team. saved was shut down and restarted. Just like Birminghams Hockey Team. and just like AFl2football. It seems to me the State of Alabama wants nothing more then the tide. which is so ridocuoulous. the state has so much to offer. other then just the tide football.

and yea . U of H was one of the best hockey teams, yet the shut it down yea and they restarted it but its not the competitor that it was they were competing with Michigan and Maine.

For arguments sake, IF UAB football does continue, what would have to be done to make it "work." I would assume that with tax dollars tight and what not.... revenues and expenses models would be looked at ... OCS would be one I would think....

I think first and foremost people need to see a "once and for all" commitment by administration. Contract extension and locking Coach Clark in. As far as the physical plant, allowing the foundation to go forward with fundraising and construction of an indoor practice facility.

The alternate question is what happens if they decide to kill it. Given the overall mood of everyone my feeling is it may be more expensive to do away with it. Giving (as the poor kids who had to make the fundraising calls this week found) is going to crater. The NAS is going to have major funding issues. In my mind, you find a way to make it work because in the long term you have to.

There's a billion dollar campaign for UAB fundraising going. You want to see the bottom absolutely fall out of that barrel?

Kill football and watch the most committed among us walk away in disgust.

That's our one thread of hope in this whole mess. Money talks! Let our threat of pulling money away do our talking for us!

Threat hell. They don't get a whole lot from me, but my wallet is closed.
