We had possibly the worst team in UABs history last season (and that is saying a lot) and we are 4-3 this season on week 8. Plenty of winnable football games left to be played. No reason to go into panic mode. 6-6 this year would be a fantastic year for Bill Clark's first season and it is very possible.

Damn right, why compare anything to last year, we do rack up yards.

How about that wacky formation to start the last drive? What was that? Offset line on the near sideline to set up the screen pass on the far sideline. Completely botched, but it looked cool. Which is exactly what I get out of it every time I run it on Xbox!

Oh yeah the Watson Brown polecat formation.

Let's also not forget getting cute on 2nd and goal by splitting Clements out at receiver, only for him to false start...you run the FN ball there and get a TD and four more points.

Not to mention the other four points we left on the table by going for two stupidly, as well as going for it when we could've attempted a FG to cut it to 21-18...

Great game UAB! You guys have a good team. Glad to see so many UAB fans make the trip! Hope y'all enjoyed your time in the Boro.

Don't be too hard on the creative play calling. We wish our staff would have some creativity and change things up. Instead, we stay conservative and sometimes, it costs us. Lots of 4th downs we should have gone for last night and didn't. Gets frustrating. Like I said, y'all have a good team. Keep your chin up.

This has to replace FIU as our WTF loss - too many mistakes on our part let it slip away. We left too many points off the board w/ those mistakes. I say MTSU did earn it in the end. 24 hr rule here onto Ark

No. I feel better about this game than I do the FIU game. The FIU game was miserable. This one was frustrating, but we played like a good offense for most of the day.

It is the original run and shoot offense. The formation is called the lonesome polecat. Get this. The center is an eligible receiver. The guy who created it ran it for an entire season and took a winless HS team to the playoffs the following year. It's called Run-And-Shoot Football: The Now Attack by Glen Ellison. It's a fascinating read if you are coaching or just in to that sort of thing.

BYU was the last team I saw run it more than once in a long while.

Was Rabb at DE when Whatley broke loose? Both huge problems.

A little Monday morning QB. Hopefully it doesn't come across as making excuses, because we had our chances on Saturday. Is it possible the assistant coaches had more control of the game plan this week since Coach had a death in the family?

I wouldn't think so. Clark seems to be a get it done early type coach.
I would think the plan was in place for the most part by Tuesday.
Considering his assistants have been with him for a while I think they may be on the same page anyway.

I don't think our oline would hold up for pass plays in the redzone.

Get Clements in the shotgun with 2 backs in max protect and a TE strongside and Staples out to the short sideline and Backman split out wide sideline. Read the strong safety, if he doesn't blitz, then the TE runs to the goal line and boxes him out. If the free safety chooses a split out reciever, then throw the fade to the other side.

If they only bring 4 and zone flood the end zone, then delay run to the RB.

It is a 3 second play inside the 15 yardline. With the pre snap reads being the keys.

I'm sure it is already in the playbook. maybe we will see it a couple of times this weekend.
