Here is an expansion topic for you. Arkansas State is expanding the press box. Here is the announcemnet from the weekend paper:
NOTICE TO GENERAL
CONTRACTORS
Consistent with Act 1626 of 2001, Arkansas State University, hereafter named Owner, requests submittal of qualifications by interested firms to provide preconstruction services and general construction of:
RENOVATION OF APPROXIMATELY 5,000 SF OF EXISTING SPACE AND CONSTRUCTION
OF APPROXIMATELY 35,000 SF ADDITION TO THE ASU FOOTBALL STADIUM PRESS BOX
located on the campus of Arkansas State University, Jonesboro AR. Interested firms should immediately request a ‘Qualifications Packet'. Upon receipt of requests from interested parties the Owner will distribute a Qualifications Packet which includes more detailed project information, the form of submittal to be used and the specific information interested parties need to provide to be considered.
Responses to the ‘Qualifications Packet' must be received not later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Our AD says a new much larger video board is on the way for this fall. We just started construction on the new IPF and the new football complex and premium seating will follow.
We were not sure if the new press box would simply be renovated, replaced or expanded. It appears we will have a 40K sq ft press box soon. It is way past time for an upgrade.

40k sf press box. do your fans behinds actually occupy much more than 40k sf? the typical seat is about18 inches, by what a foot, or 1.5 sf per fan.
all kidding aside this is wonderful news.

The additional square footage takes into account the mechanical closets that will contain the equipment required to keep the alcohol refrigeration units running per specification.

Guys, you may not really appreciate what a 40,000 sq ft press box is until you check on your team's. Please do. A press box of this size is found at the largest and best stadiums in this good ole USA. It will be a dominating structure and be a revenue producer with plenty of premium seating.
