UMass leaving MAC.
League offered full membership, and the Minutemen declined, so the MAC said see ya. Per ESPN

Things are about to get interesting.

One would think this locks JMU out of the MAC. I don't see the MAC going to 14.

Why not? They were willing to go to 13 for all sports. They WANT to expand, and UMass had the first invite and declined.

Can't say I blame them with where the rest of their sports are.

And you guys laughed when I suggested adding UMass.
Funny.
This means JMU will likely want to join the SBC also but doubt SBC adds anymore.

You would think though that it would make more sense to bring UMass and JMU in and play with 14...or to kick both out and play with 12.

JMU/Delaware to MAC for 14. Been speculated a lot in the past.

That would certainly be another possibility...though that depends on how willing Deleware is to move up.

They would be a good fit. I just don't see the benefit to going to 14 for the MAC and spreading the footprint.

Or JMU/Missouri State.

TV markets and broadcasting rights. MAC just lost a large bargaining chip with the elimination of New England.

RE: UMass leaving MAC.
If UMass came in football only seems would almost assure the SBC would
offer NMSU full membership.
Then all members except the two most East and West schools.

I thought NMSU was offered full status a while back?
