I'm not so sure now that anybody has earned the right for anything.
I would play all of the players that haven't been able to play as long as it doesn't cost a redshirt or anything.

What does our coaching staff do during the offseason?
Is it anything related to recruiting?
What actually goes on in practice?
How much do our coaches want to be here?
How much do the players want to be here?

Were the players right when they felt Callaway had the program moving in the right direction?
No.

Not at all.

Interesting. While I questioned his dismissal initially, Jackie seems to be showing his true colors...
Looks like coach made the right choice

Myles McKee its now we need to get ready for next season. Let some of the injured rest up for the spring and get some younger guys more snaps and guys like Nolen coming back from serious injury. Heck try tinkering with the bottom of the roster some like seeing if Roberson is finally ready to be a LB again things like that. I love having Blankenship at OT gives us something to build on position changes like that. See where injury had Pickren playing both TE/DE pick one for him and get depth at the other. It could mean less snaps for seniors but they could fill in for the other snaps and whole substitutions suck please stop it this it aint basketball.

The kid is right, straight up I knew at that time when he was released the season was over didn't make for a great decision coming from the top. His new are black and gold since green and gold nation turned on him.

Yep like Hix, Autry, and Slyvester on the interior line until Byrd and O'Leary gets back healthy. Alston and Pettway would get more snaps at LB could go a long way for next year and give guys and early jump in spring practices.

RE: UAB vs. East Carolina game thread
so…I'm thinking that the team changed the goal to 4 wins…they decided to focus on the 2 most likely, which would be the next two. they've basically treated this past week like an off week and have been preparing for rice…so, while this will be a short week for rice, its actually a week and a half of preparation for us…today was nothing more than a mid-week practice…
theres…hows that for a positive spin?

RE: UAB vs. East Carolina game thread
Ruffin, an ECU alumnus, has proven to be the right coach for ECU as they move to new "quarters" next season. He wanted the TX Tech job, but they spurned him in favor of Tubberville who then moved on to Cinnci (who won convincingly today). How well is TX Tech doing this season?
I honestly believe UAB has a good coach, and we will improve if he can bring in the players he WANTS rather than having to "settle for" the players he can get . We won't know the difference out here since neither will admit it if the latter happens. Perhaps he will bring in a couple new coaches as well - you can fire / demote a coach anytime, but you can't hire a new one until after the season.
How many of our injured players are in such bad shape (like requiring surgery) as to have to be held out of spring practice?

Totally agree with these two points. I also think the coaching staff doesn't appreciate position skill. By that I mean they seem to feel that anyone of a certain body type can fill any position where said body type is used. As examples, that any OL can play DL; any TE can play DE; a RB can play safety. I think we would be better served to have people play the position they've been playing since PeeWee football rather than just plugging a body-type in and expecting them to be effective.
That being said I realize this is a new coaching staff w/o real head coaching experience and there are growing pains and that our multitude of injuries has had a real affect on the team. I just wish the progression was faster.

I just wish I could say that I would have seen any progress this year by the team or the coaching staff. Have we hit the bottom yet, where we then start to make a climb to respectability. Not sure we have yet. We still seem to be in a spiral down. I guess bottom would be losing to Southern Miss.

I'm glad you're not coach.
Me too. I don't like losing. And it may be bad sportsmanship to say tht but it's just as bad to do that. I hate ECU and I hate them even more for that ****. There is absolutely no reason for him to be in there passing the ball at that point.
I don't like losing either. I also don't like teams leaving their starter in to continue to throw the ball in the 4th quarter of a blowout. you'll notice I was the first person in this thread to point that out.
I don't give a crap how classless another team is, we are UAB. We are sons of Bartow. We don't do crap like that.

RE: UAB vs. East Carolina game thread
i dont like losing either
but THe offensive side of the ball is good enough to win a lot of game (great OL , great wr, great te, great runnning back but subpar qb.
The defense safety and cb are decent , the linebackers unit is below part , but the dl is atrocious.
the special team unit cannot be better
the coaching staff on the defensive side of ball is atrocious like the dl
How to fix it
juco dl ,juco lb , te from hs and dc with with experience as an HC ,,the second choice a hc from a very good juco who can bring a lot of players with him

That excuse is no longer valid, McGee has two years experience, and shows no signs of being capable.

Hasn't been 2 years, especially when you consider the recruiting cycle...
