Sen. Cruz seems to be onto something where these companies want to have their gay wedding cake and eat it too, putting them in dicey legal territory.

Quote:“The pattern of political censorship we are seeing across the technology companies is highly concerning,” Sen. Cruz said in his closing remarks. “And the opening question I asked of whether you are a neutral public forum — if you are a neutral public forum, that does not allow for political editorializing and censorship. And if you are not a neutral public forum, the entire predicate for liability immunity under the CDA [Communications Decency Act] is claiming to be a neutral public forum, so you cannot have it both ways."

Quote:Brad Parscale, who was recently appointed as campaign manager for Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection bid, has warned Google, Facebook, and Twitter to maintain a “level playing field,” following a month of high-profile revelations of bias at big tech.

His comment follows weeks of high-profile revelations about Silicon Valley openly limiting the reach of conservatives. Last week, we reported that algorithm changes at Facebook have caused the President’s engagement on the platform to fall by 45 percent. The same change has hit engagement on the pages of conservative news websites, while leaving the mainstream media’s pages virtually unchanged.

During the same week, YouTube launched a massive crackdown against conservatives and alternative media channels, taking down videos and banning channels. The channel for Alex Jones’ InfoWars, which interviewed the President during his 2016 election campaign, is now one strike away from a permanent ban on the platform.

Twitter also continues to be caught up in bias scandals: we recently reported that the platform is hiding tweets from President Trump and Donald Trump Jr. The platform also conducted a recent mass-lockout of Trump supporters, and has refused to apply their terms of service evenly, allowing a campaign of harassment against Pamela Geller’s daughters while banning right-wingers for stating facts.

Yes corporations are rapidly becoming the New Thought Police, but I am not sure I understand how the government can demand a "level playing field" for political biases.

There is no Fairness Doctrine, nor is one needed.
That is not what Cruz is saying. He says you can be neutral or be protected from lawsuits, but not both.
What concerns me more is bias in the workplace. There have always been places where one side or the other didn't feel comfortable talking about their views. But now, they are reaching outside the workplace and denying employment based on what has happened outside and completely freezing out conservatives from entire industries. When you can't earn a living it is a constitutional violation (life liberty and the pursuit of happiness). It was true when it was done to the Communists in the 50s. Its true now when it is applied to other groups.

Not sure who you are talking to, but if it's me, then yes, I agree, and I thought that's what I said. They are censoring and politically editorializing, while claiming they aren't in order to be protected.
They want to be free to make money from porn and child pornography and hate speech from the left while censoring all kinds of stuff from the right.

yea and today Rafael Cruz introduced legislation allowing for the wholesale firing of LGBT persons from all taxpayer funded employment and the denial of service to LGBT persons by all taxpayer funded entities.
Honestly, I don't care if they want to choose a side - left or right. What I don't like is when they give the facade of being neutral or objective and are anything but.

If they make it clear they have chosen a side and then slant what they present, fine......just quit being disingenuous.

Yeah, sure.
So can you cross off Dallas and Austin off the finalist list of 20 cities for Amazon HQ2?

Look, if I own a social network? I would banned Alex Jones, Breitbart, other far right nutjobs that includes terrorists, abd any far left nutjobs that advocate hatred towards others. Ted Cruz is an idiot because he is part of the far right that helps spread these fake news stuff that causes harm to others.

Site selection-top states

1) Texas
2) Ohio
3) Illinois
4) Georgia
5) North Carolina

Wishful thinking on your part. NC's bill didn't hurt them. They are still #5. Georgia had one the left didn't like and they are still #4.

Interestingly on a city basis, Chicago, despite all its problems, city population drop and slow metro growth, was #1. Houston #2, Dallas #3, Atlanta #4.

Ted Cruz is not a cherished member of the Political Elite. That group is bi-partisan in that it includes leftists, radical leftists and RINOs.

Cruz, fortunately for Americans, isn't a member of the PE.

We need many more like Ted Cruz.

There's a reason he and Trump were the last two Republicans standing in the Primary.

Ted Cruz should have never been allowed to run since he was born in a Canadian hospital which was not on US soil. Someone born in Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and US Virgin Island could run since they were born on US soil.

No, not true at all. You are misinterpreting the law.
