SEOUL—North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told a visiting South Korean delegation that he was willing to hold talks with the U.S. about giving up nuclear weapons and normalizing relations with Washington, officials in Seoul said Tuesday.

During meetings in Pyongyang, Mr. Kim, who has conducted a series of missile launches over the past year, signaled a “clear intent to pursue denuclearization” if the security of North Korea and his regime are guaranteed, said Chung Eui-yong, South Korea’s national security adviser. He said the North pledged to halt weapons tests during any negotiations.

This is and interesting development. If sincere, this is a good thing he is even wiling to talk without ridiculous demands.

Good luck with that.
Fat Boy probably needs some food for his starving country. But yeah I would trust anything he says.

Fat Boy probably needs a new car that is currently banned via some sanction. He could not care less about his starving people.

You are likely right.
To bad we have an inept president and a woefully understaffed state department to likely make much of this olive branch.

Elect trump...what do you have to lose? This.

In other news, Nazi Germany has pinky promised to stop conquering Europe if allowed it to take control of Sudetenland.

IF Trump can pull this off after the prior 6 terms of Presidents, two and a half decades worth, all failed,

Just go drag out the boxes of dynamite and the rock drills. Let the addition to Mt. Rushmore begin.

Nope, but it is a good sign he's even open to the idea. Maybe.

Trust, suspiciously, but verify.

We know what the little bastard is up to, probably at all times.

True.
We've seen this all before. It's a NK tried and true tactic to come to the table only when it needs something. The world usually caves, gives it to them, and then NK just goes back to being NK.

Exactly.

Yea, Trumps never negotiated anything.

Amazing. Even good news is somehow bad news. It's getting pathetic.

It's like they actually believe NK is sincere. This time.

It won't be trump doing any negotiating, thankfully, as he knows absolutely nothing about the topic.

Nobody said they were...but you need to have the necessary people in place should they be. And this could certainly be different as NK likely is in the strongest position they've ever been with their recent nuclear development. In the past they could never be taken very seriously mostly because everyone knew they pretty much had no long rage delivery system. It's getting more clear that they might.

But hey, if trump somehow manages to find the right qualified people to actually accomplish something here I'll be the first to give him credit. I just have my doubts. His track record of not really wanting to fill the necessary state department positions for this type of work is eventually going to bite him, or worse us, in the ass.
Ok Charlie Brown, go try to kick that football again. I'm sure it will turn out differently this time.

Yea, we keep hearing what a rank Dummy he is.

For about 3 years now. 07-coffee3
I'd love it if he were sincere.... but the reality is that he doesn't need to 'talk' to us to abandon nuclear weapons. All he needs to do is do so... and if he were sincere, he would invite confirmation that it had happened and the US and others would be hard-pressed to maintain economic sanctions etc.

So I see this as nothing but a ploy (as it has been for others) to 'get something' from us without having to actually do anything. It only serves to encourage rogue nations/dictators to pursue weapons to extort literally billions from us.

Destroy them, give the UN unfettered access to verify and we will THEN AND ONLY THEN lift the sanctions. Different from the Iraq deal in that there hasn't yet been an invasion/war and the sanctions get lifted only after verification
