Signing no-star recruits is apparently our thing. Let's see if it translates to more than 5 wins this time.

Marshall is first in both, so what is your point? 03-lmfao

What is up with that? Is this the same coaching staff as when ya'll were FCS? If so, do they not know how to evaluate recruits? There's not that many FBS schools in VA. I can see the challenge for UNCC, competing with all the other FBS schools in NC for instate recruits.

It was a dig at Southern Miss fans who still use Rivals as the standard...

I don't follow recruiting as close as other odu fans here, so I will defer to them, but my non-educated answer is we have consistently recruited at this level. The one time we had a good ranking class is because we were moving up to FBS so we had a TON of recruits that year due to more scholarships to fill. We have never had a 4 start recruit. We never have more than a handful of 3 stars. The results on the field so far has been only one or two "bad" years from us despite not getting the stars next to their names.
How does Marshall have 30 signed players? WKU still does not have 4 star show up, I think these rankings are not correct...

You mentioned FAU signed 18. Rivals shows FAU signed 15 and 247 shows FAU signed 14. Is Rivals closer to the truth than 247, as far as FAU signees?

Check the National Signing Day 2018 thread about Marshall; we discussed it at length.

And Kevaris Thomas was rated 4* by 247Sports, but because he was rated lower by ESPN and Rivals, he is only rated 3* in the composite.

You are correct they are not correct.... not the way you are thinking.

Western's 4 star ranking was a 247 (only) ranking and the Composite ranking by 247 includes it. The Western QB finished with a 3 star overall.

Western's overall ranking has 3 (the #2, #7 and #18) players included that did not sign with Western and is not expected to sign with Western. Once you remove those 3 players from this class. Western's overall ranking drops to a 148.55 (close) and 7th in CUSA. FAU is the only other team than Western in the top 7 that has unsigned 3* players in the class.

list of Western recruits and at the bottom it list the 3 players that DNS https://247sports.com/college/western-ke...ll/Commits

This is the class calculator and those 3 are listed in the total Western class. You can remove the players to get Western's real number

Marshall usually floats towards the middle of the pack till signing day...then they are #1 more times than not

247Sports will update once the signees are confirmed by Florida Atlantic. They just announced Dacoda Weaver about an hour ago, but all are currently listed as commits, except for B.J. Emmons who was a last minute signee. EDIT: They just added B.J. Emmons.

Rivals lists several commits who decommitted months ago, such as Billy Joseph & Dabarre Jenkins for Florida Atlantic or Denzel Washington & William Robinson for Southern Miss, who are being included in class rankings. Southern Miss even has Travion "Ty" Williams' rating twice on Rivals.

As YG pointed out, 247Sports still has some clean-up to do as well.

EDIT: And I'm not saying 247Sports ratings are better or worse than Rivals' ratings; the disparity among sites can be significant. Just look at Charles Cameron who is rated 4* on ESPN, 3* on 247Sports, and 2* on Rivals. To avoid subjectiveness as much as one possibly can with ratings, looking at a composite of 3 sites is our best option.

All of the commits currently listed for Florida Atlantic on 247Sports did sign with us; it was done after the official announcement was released on NSD.

I think the WKU 4-star you are referring to (Kevaris Thomas) was already updated. He received a boost to 4-star in one rating only (247). His 247 composite is still 3-stars.

Still, I think this is anywhere near final yet and there is alot of shifting taking place. i just checked and FIU is back to #1 for now. Also, one of FIU’s higher rated signees (Gaskin) has not been added yet and there still is alot of shifting going on while players get updated and those that have not signed get removed. A team cannot sign more than 25 I believe so Marshall’s rating may go down as that get’s corrected.

Yup, there will definitely be a lot of shifting over the next few days. Florida Atlantic is currently up to #4.

And there are a few different scenarios which allow you to sign more than 25 recruits in a class. I think this article does a great job at breaking it down. https://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal...igning-day

Marshall officially signed 24:

Marshall 2018 Recruiting Class

The others will be grayshirts, blueshirts and a few NQers. The most intriguing recruit for me besides Alex Thomson the grad QB is Jacob Cassidy. Cassidy is a Huntington kid out of Spring Valley HS, he plays TE. He is about the same height and weight as was Ryan Yurachek when he commited to Marshall.

It shows WKU with no 4star recruits but we have a qb recently elavated to a 4star. Don't know how much of a bump that will give us though.

Kevaris Thomas was rated 4* by 247Sports, but since he was rated lower by ESPN and Rivals, he is only rated 3* in the composite.

If you look at his profile, just under his picture, you will see their 4* rating. https://247sports.com/player/kevaris-thomas-45573422
