UC: RPI--11, Kenpom--5, Sagarin--6, BPI--6, ESPN SOR--10 and KPI--9.

X: RPI--3, Kenpom--16,Sagarin--10, BPI--14, ESPN SOR--4 and KPI--6.

UC looks as strong or stronger than X, don't think X is a #1 seed.
Those numbers show UC is a better team. RPI is worthless due to having no margin of victory. Strength of record says that X has had better wins which none of us would dispute. The comprehensive measurements of team quality show us as a top 6 team and them outside the top 10.

X is an obvious candidate for high seed most likely to get upset early, followed likely by Duke.
X will probably end up a 2.

UC a 3 or 4

I don't see how you see UC as possibly stronger when X is ranked higher in three of the five metrics. That being said, X doesn't deserve a one seed. My hunch is a 2 and a 3 for UC.
Because the ones designed to measure the quality of your team Kenpom, Sagarin, and BPI all favor UC. Honestly I don't know about KPI that may do the same thing in which case 3/4 would favor us. I place zero relevance on RPI and strength of record is more a measure of what you've done vs how good you are.

KPI is designed to rank resumes not team quality.

I agree though with most this post. Rpi doesn't tell you anything worthwhile.

Kpi and SOR are both measures that do a pretty decent job of measuring resume. X ranks higher in both. The predictive metrics that measure team quality all favor uc usually by a good amount.

Pundits now giving X love on the #1 line because of Duke loss, not seeing it when the three metrics about team quality favor UC who will not be a one seed, still a month to go. There are six metrics.
What is the obsession with X? It keeps creeping into several threads. Who freaking cares what they are doing.

Agree, and the mention that we are better. They crushed us head to head. I sounds very hollowwwwwwwwwww when we claim superior through metrics.

Well, at least the Ohio State watch died down. That used to happen regularly around here.

I agree with the sentiment, but bemoaning their... lament...(was going to say "bemoaning their bemoaning" and realized that sounded retarded) won't make anything better.

While the predictive analytic numbers consistently show UC being a better team seeding is, and should be, based on resume. X has played and beaten more good teams, including us. I have no issue with where X is being projected but I do look and see a team that has over performed and is an obvious early upset candidate.
Way too many games left for us to know anything right now
Due to recent events with many teams losing, UC may not be as overrated as I thought. Still concerned about the strength of schedule, but can't do anything about that now.

Plus, the revitalized Kyle Washington will be a force to deal with in March

Well that didn't take very long.
Most teams have 8 games left and Conference Tourney.

To early but right now it is:

1. Villa
2. VA
3. Purdue

No. 4 is arguable between Duke, MSU, X and perhaps Kansas.

If in doubt it will be Dookies.

I don’t see 2 number 1 seeds coming from the New Big East

I’m going to be honest, outside of the Shootout I haven’t seen them play all year.

Ive tried to keep up on their games. the first half of the year they basically relied on blueitt, macura and kanter for scoring. lately the guys that usually shoot a low % from 3 have been hitting them. If their pg goodin can keep hitting 3s at a decent % then teams are going to have to actually guard him. When they throw out a lineup of Blueitt, Macura, Goodin, Kanter and Gates/Marshall they look pretty damn good. That omara kid will probably have another disappointing regular season and show up big in march like he did last year against Arizona.
