Heard a wise man say one time that there are a couple games each year that no matter what you do you’re going to get your butt kicked. There’s a couple where you’re gonna do that to the other team no matter what they do.

Well, tonight is the former. Tech is shooting like 70% from 3 (just a guess). And people will chime in and say “we never defend the 3”, but that’s not the case tonight. We are right there in their face on most of them. Think I’ve seen 1 wide open look for them and one more where we were late getting there. Other than those 2 we’ve been right there. Most of the 3s they’re taking aren’t even good shots. They’re taking fadeaways and stepbacks off the dribble. But they’re making everything.
I saw the score and expected the usual: roasted from behind the arc & killed on the boards, but then I looked at the stats, and nope. Shot attempts on both 2s and 3s were virtually identical as were rebounds. Heck, we actually had more offensive boards than they did. Tech hit 56% on 2s & 50% on 3s vs. our 38% and 33%. We competed a lot better than the score shows, so that’s good, but unfortunately that doesn’t change the score. We still got our butts whupped in a game we really needed to be able to take a step up into the next tier of the league.
We can't beat teams that are somewhat decent.

True, but this time last year, we couldn’t beat teams who weren’t even that. Again, we’re looking at the results of one genuine recruiting class. It’s not gonna be all sunshine and puppies.

We just may up and bite somebody before the year’s out. These guys are doing some good things from game to game. It’s just tough with our current lack of depth to do them all at the same time.
