But he also took on one of the city’s recurring failures: “Crime is our greatest challenge. Everywhere I go in every corner of the city, I hear it.”

What's left to annex?

This sounds like a question for oldmangrizz.
Nothing left to annex and the state changed the annexation laws.

The city mayor never had the say so on annexation; it was the City Council.

Doesn't sound like Mayor Strickland was saying anything about actually stopping annexation as much as saying that annexation wasn't a feasible way grow the city financially.

It was slick Willie that pushed for Memphis to extend to the Fayette County line. He had a gentleman's agreement with Bartlett years ago about Hillshire and Kate Bond and Stage area. Unfortunately for those citizens, the agreement was 1 gentleman short and slick Willie went back on his word. They became part of Memphis and much of that area is now Section 8 and looking rougher everyday.

Anything Memphis has ever annexed has turned to crap. It's the kiss of death.

yet, every one of the most expensive places to live in the metro area are inside the city limits, at least 90% of the wealthy people in the area live inside the city limits. Annexation has a been a lose/lose for the city of
Memphis, the county, and all of the area citizens.

The city needs to concentrate on improving what it has and the small towns need to work on their quality of life---everyone will benefit.

He was last seen at the Package store on Southern at Boston with all the Rhodes Scholars that are hanging out there working on ways to end world hunger.

If you'd said he was hanging out at a comic book store I might have believed it.
While y’all are having this P-R conversation, and trying to play “Where’s Latty” I will point out that every part of Memphis was annexed at some point or another except for downtown and the surrounding area. Basically the people that leave the city want the protection of a major US city without paying for a major US city. Of course most US cities have more population outside of the city limits, and Tennessee had loose annexation laws that benefit Memphis and Nashville before it went metro so Memphis was always able to artificially inflate its population. But Memphis proper is too sprawled now. That only real solution is consolidation which now that there is one school system shouldn’t be an issue. The munis have their own schools; why not have a combined City-County government?

Didn’t you have me blocked for years? Because that makes more sense that to think I’m the dude who would hang out at a comic book store. I’d guess a shake junt or a hookah bar or something.

Isn’t a package store what they call liquor stores in some states?

If you are fixated on liquor, it would explain a great deal.
No, he is fixated on black people concentrated in numbers greater than one.
