The Towson game was a stinker. It's over, time to move onward and upward.

Beat Northeastern and the Tribe is still alone in first place 7 games into the conference season.

We need hustle and effort from the opening tip and for Nathan to stay out of foul trouble.

Go Tribe!
While every conference game is tough, the Tribe will know a whole lot after the next 4 games. At that point, we will have played 6 of our 9 road contests and had both games with Towson. If we can manage to be 7-3 or better after the next 4 games, we will be in very good shape.

But, Northeastern is good, and at Elon is a very, very tough road game. Then, we go to Towson and to UNCW(who is playing much better lately). Hopefully, we will play well.
Coen always coaches 'em up at Northeastern. I expect a close one on Thursday.
Will be great to finally have the students and band back!!
While it has been the sight of some amazing comebacks, Kaplan has not been a place this season where we have any comfortable wins in conference play. With so many difficult road games remaining, the Tribe must find a way to win Thursday night before another 3 game road trip. It sure looks like nearly all the league games are close, but hopefully Saturday's 4 wins by the road teams is not repeated on Thursday. Northeastern traditionally is very hard to come back on because they often reduce the number of total possessions in the game, especially when they get the lead. They come in having won in OT at UNCW. Really hope we can get some good team defense and get Connor and Matt going early.
Also, this game could be the highest attended game so far and a win will bring people back. An embarrassing loss might reverse some of the momentum. We've had really good crowds this year with the students away
I am thrilled with the team and their overall performance this year. I just think we as fans sometimes minimize our opponents abilities in our focus on the Tribe. I understand that the CAA has a few teams that have bad records and extremely low RPI, but all 10 teams are capable this year. The margin between a win and a loss is razor thin in most conference games. So, I think more than ever, the fan support for the team is vital. While I think the teams have been generally successful, the performances at Kaplan the last 4-5 years have at times been spectacular. This season, it has been amazing enough at times, that I still watched Saturday with roughly 4 minutes to go, not 100% certain that we would not rally. The positive support and sound for the team is bound to be appreciated and I look forward to being a part of it next month. The pessimistic view would say we lost by more than 25 at home and we have been lucky. While that might be true, the Tribe has 12 wins already and is 5-1. Those "lucky" wins happened and were earned by the guys playing hard, playing together and taking advantage of every chance to win. How many close games have we lost? Either none, 1(TCU) or 2(UCF, TCU), depending on your definition. The guys believe, and so do I.
I just got an email invitation for a Chalk Talk with Jonathan Holmes before the Northeastern game tomorrow. Is this a new program? I don't recall this kind of thing in previous years.

That sounds like it could be absolutely fascinating

ODU has been doing pregame chalk talks for a while. Really great way to engage fans & donors before the game. Nothing too detailed, basically just a pregame peptalk and opponent preview.

Would be really neat to do a student chalk talk...Particularly before a big game. Might be a good way to get students to the arena early.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a lineup change tonight. We need to put a more defense oriented team on the court.

I'm curious on the distribution of this. I'm a Tribe Club donator. I have had season tickets for 15 years. I got no such e-mail.

I'd be shocked to see a lineup change fwiw. Not discrediting your logic, but I just don't think that's Tony's style. One really bad game has not historically caused him to shakeup a lineup that, for the most part, has been working.
The only way I think we become better defensively is by substituting in Tot for Burchfield, but I can't see that being a change in the starting lineup. Rowley, Harrison, and Loewe certainly don't improve our defense, and Williams hadn't been getting any minutes at all.. so he sure isn't staring tonight.

Agree with you! I did get it but questioned why they would send it out the day before a game. Also after registering and paying my $10 never got a confirmation and the invite has no contact info. Really missing the guys who left last year and this is an area that Huge needs to devote time to fix.
I cannot imagine a starting lineup change. We need to get Connor and Matt going early which means they need to be on the floor. Northeastern is never an easy team to come back against, so a fast start at both ends of the floor is vital. Tot plays hard, but his offense is very limited. There is a reason that he plays less than 10 minutes a game as does Harrison. Those minutes are important, but there is a huge dropoff offensively when those two guys are on the floor. But, no doubt the defense has to improve tonight or we may be in big trouble again. I expect our starting five guys, absent foul trouble to log significant minutes again. Only Rowley is likely to play more than 10 minutes off the bench. Should be a great test again.

Agree we have drop off in offense with Tot but do not about Harrison. He is an aggressive and effective post player in offense that provides a contrast in style to Knight. As a side note, Tot hit his half court shot in warm up last game before heading to the locker room.........

I generally try not to be my sarcastic, snarky self here..

But you don't think there is a dropoff in offense from Knight to Harrison?! You can't possibly be serious, can you?

Outside of Tot, who would be an upgrade on defense that starts on the bench? This team isn't going to win games on the defensive end. They need to get their offense back in rhythm and start hitting 50%+ from the field and 40%+ from 3.
