We have talked a lot on this board over the past several seasons about the lack of defense by the Men's Basketball Team and how it has effected their overall performance in MAC League Play. With that said, I did a quick "Points Given Up" analysis of MAC regular season and tournament games over the past 3 seasons and came up with following Won-Lost results for the Rockets:

Below 60 points (7-1) 8 Games
Between 60-70 Points (14-6) 20 Games
Between 70-80 Points (6-10) 16 Games
Between 80-90 Points (3-8) 11 Games
Over 90 Points (0-4) 4 Games
Total (30-29) 59 Games

What the results tell me is that the Rockets are very successful when they hold teams under 70 points (21-7) and not so successful when they give up more than 70 points (9-22).

With 3 MAC games played in the 2017-18 regular season the Rockets are 2-0 holding a team under 70 Points and 0-1 while giving up more than 70 points. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues and whether or not Toledo's so called "new emphasis" on defense will result in more MAC wins.
I mean yeah, Its no revalation that the less points you give up, the more games you're going to win. What's your point?
there's also the reality that coach k builds his roster more around offensive skills so generally we score pretty well against everyone. sometimes we win with defense. sometimes we win cuz the other team isn't making shots. and you still gotta be more competitive in the high scoring games. we lose a lot of close high scoring games.
