According to a tweet from Kent Hegenauer, OB is no longer with us. RIP

I hate to hear that, I had not heard. He was a true fan of the Golden Eagles and have seen many players come and go throughout the years. I'm very proud of the all the previous coaching staffs to the present ones and also all the players and former players, during O.B.'s time with Southern Miss, for always keeping him as part of the Southern Miss Family. ??? RIP
Easily the most devoted Golden Eagle of them all.

The clock on the Pearly Gates just struck “cocktail time.”
Known O.B. since 1973....All the national championships, money and prestige in the world some other schools have, does not equal having an O.B. Bowen.

Have that Pearl Light ready when I see ya old friend.
I love to goof and lament about our recent performance like the best of us but I must step in here and say something about this topic.

Today I am dedicating a prayer to a guy that poured his heart & soul into USM. He was funny as hell too! Anyone that did what he did - no matter how you slice it - is ok in my book.

What his family did; what USM did for him & his family...is unheard of nowadays. It's forbidden. A liability. Not ever going to happen again at a comprehensive university.

But it happened here. At Southern. And THAT'S what I love about USM. I hope we all learned something about unconditional love from OB & from those that made sure he was part of the family for life. May we all be that lucky. God speed OB - "Cocktail time"
It's a sad day. I seriously think that the stadium should be renamed after him (not joking). I may be wrong, but wasn't M.M. Roberts a segregationist anyways? How has that not hit national news these days? I think it would be fitting to go to "The Rock" at "Owen Bowen Stadium", a true Golden Eagle.
I never met OB but heard of his legend and from those accounts he was true Black and Gold.

May the Lord be with OB and his family.
I think a statue on campus is in perfect order. Put it just outside the stadium on the southwest end zone side between stadium and the hub area where all that concrete is.
