Fr Carter Bradley 6'3' 208 lbs #18(Position-High School National Rank)
Sr Jake Floriea 5'11" 190 lbs #NA
Soph Caleb Martin 6'2" 200 lbs #67
Soph Eli Peters 6'2" 190 lbs #45
Jr Mitch Quadagni 6'2" 200 lbs #41
Sr Jalen Reese 6'3" 205 lbs #NA
Fr Cross Wilkinson 6'3' 205 lbs #67
My guess: Mitch Guadagni is given first shot, with Caleb Martin (kind of forgot about him--oops) and one of the 2 incoming freshmen competing for the chance to step in if Mitch falters, and the other incoming freshman redshirts.
These guys are solid athletes. Maybe Candle can convert a couple of them to defense if they will not play at QB. Campbell had great luck with that at Iowa State converting his former QB to defense. Dwight Macon of course became a solid receiver after he was unable to play much QB (except v NIU).
Guadagni was the only one I saw play.

Right on Martin, but Guadagni will be a 4th year Junior.
Is Bradley enrolled yet? Would be interesting if he was available for spring practice

If not and if Mitch does not take control in Spring practice I Theo the keys at Bradley
7 QB's to be on the roster? That does not feel good about what we have available if we went out to bring in 2 more true freshman in this class. Seems like a need is there. I would have to believe there is going to be some defections. I would say that for sure Reese and Floriea who are going to be seniors will not be seeing playing time - and raises the question of whether they are extended scholarships for their senior year. I don't like that as a possibility, but I suppose it could happen.

I just don't know what to make of Eli Peters since he did not see the field at all this year. When you have around 125 D1 schools and you get a #45 ranking like Peters did, that is pretty solid. I believe he ended up at Toledo after going to Illinois because we had been recruiting him all along. I would think if things are not going well in Spring practice, he will be gone to a place where he can play - maybe down to D2 so he doesn't lose another year of eligibility. If he is involved in a battle for the starting job, that would be a very good sign.

I don't know much at all about Martin, but also decent ranking coming out of high school. You just never know how well guys are going to progress when they get to D1 competition. Didn't Guadagni play D1 in high school? What about Martin - don't even know where he is from. I seem to remember Guadagni taking his team pretty deep into the play-offs and was THE guy on the team that was difficult to contain - either throwing or running.

Floriea is not on scholarship. I don't think Candle had any intentions of taking a second QB in this class until Bradley became available late. Martin is from Fort Recovery,OH.

Martin passed for almost 6,000 yds and 54 TDs in HS. He was MVP of the State Championship game as a Jr.
We have tons of potential at QB. It’s just a question of who takes the reins and whether we suffer some lumps during their growing process. But any one of 3 or 4 of these guys will be very good after they get that first season of really playing under their belts.

I see Mitch as a Receiver if he does not make it at QB he sure runs well I am not sole on him from the little I saw him play. But that could just being tentative from not enough reps. Anyway I am Rooting for all of them as the better they are the better we will be MAY THE BEST MAN WIN and then WIN ALL OF THE GAMES

YES ^^^
Competition breeds success...
Guadagni is definitely a good football player. I guess the question is if he can do a good job managing the passing game. I imagine if there's a very close competition including him that he will get some snaps and we will see a platoon system (at least early) to make it harder to prepare for us and give the staff time to see how effective different types of quarterbacks are with the offense.

Peters was a name recruit but that doesn't really mean much. Julian was much higher rated than Woodside out of HS. Cody and Dionte Johnson were rated lower than the rest of the receivers in their class.

This is really the opportunity for Martin to make a move up the depth chart. It's wide open and he's had a year to learn the system and adjust to the college game. We'll see.

Reese is not on scholarship, I believe.

Wilkinson is an exciting recruit at QB who has kinda gotten lost in the Bradley signing excitement. Don't know if either is starting school early and will be on campus this month but that would certainly help them get reps and coaching and become part of the team. An early enrollee is not a regular frosh.

No strong opinion on the Kentucky possible transfer. Enough talent to start some SEC games makes me curious what he could do, but we've had guys grad transfer in from the P5 leagues and not be able to beat out the starters at their positions.
For the next season, it would not take a superstar at QB to help Toledo compete for a MAC title. With all of the weapons on offense, Toledo just needs someone who can manage the game plan and not make stupid mistakes. Of course anything beyond that would be a plus.

Not going to be able to utilize the weapons on Offense unless the Rockets' OL produces.
That's why I think a game manager won't cut it. Need a QB that can stretch the field.
oline was really beat up this year and still came through, save the App St game. guadagni can stretch the field with the read option and open up the run game. we just don't know how well he can execute the pass game. anyways, if guadagni is the guy we need a good backup because he's gonna run a lot and probably get injured to some degree.
Need a strong arm with quick release and accuracy to stretch the field. I personally don't recall seeing that arm in any HS or UT games ftom Quadagni. I honestly thought he was being offerred presumming he'd migrate to a different position that could use his displayed talents. He seems still in the running for QB so the work I presume has been put in. I've feeling if there's any competition for the spot, there will be a two QB system.

Nice music. Nothing there to refute what I posted so not sure why it was posted in response to me? Come-on, I could put together a similar video for any QB in the city league? I said "I personally don't recall seeing" and that's still true. I've seen any number of QBs hit a downfield pass. I've never seen him reliably hit a downfield pass in stride and his sideline pass can be timed with a stop watch. There's more to the position and I have seen those other things but nothing that would address the concern brought up by others.
