The Trump administration announced Thursday it is planning to dramatically expand offshore drilling, opening almost all U.S. coastal waters to potential oil and gas exploration and development.
The Interior Department is proposing 47 possible auctions of drilling rights in stretches of the U.S. outer continental shelf. This includes the Pacific Ocean near California and the Atlantic Ocean near Maine.

I did some offshore drilling on Kentucky lake when I was a younger man.
I fully support new off shore drilling. It not only creates high paying jobs and increases NG and Petro supplies..but..these platforms serve as artificial reef ecosystems that support marine life. The technology behind this has been vastly improved since the DWH accident. There is virtually no real threat from this drilling.

Yes, it creates high paying jobs for executives, attorneys and accountants due to claims against the energy companies for killing employees and spewing oil into gulfs and oceans for months at a stretch (which arguably does not "support marine life").

If the corporate Republicans go along with this one they might well lose some of their otherwise loyal GOP voters. Democrats should highlight their opposition.

Despite the spills, losses of life and temporary environmental damage...the fact remains that no consequential long term damage has come from drilling. The fact is...The ocean disperses these spills and naturally cleans them away in most instances and the spills that impact our coastal areas have been addressed and cleaned up for the most part. Also the industry has taken the mistakes of the past and applied them to its current practices, procedures and safety policies. These spills are few and far between now. You can choose as you wish ignore the impact of this industry on our economy. The fact is that jobs in this sector are extremely valuable. Damn near every job surrounding this industry is a high paying skilled job. That is undeniable.

oceanic methane deposits/leakage is a real thing......maybe that's DJT's fault too......capturing this resource is easily the right move.....
