So for you guys whose teams are going to have a new starting QB, what's the situation? Do you have a front-runner? Anyone who has been proven in game situations so far?
I’ll go ahead and answer for each of them....

The new QB will be light years better than the graduating QB and will be the best in school history.
Answering for Troy fans:

"The New QB is light years better than Silvers and is going to beat Nebraska and Boise in his first 3 weeks on the way to an Access Bowl birth"
I don't think so. We were dogshit when Corey Robinson graduated. We have some good QBs but there will be growing pains.

I was specifically answering for Atlanta Trojan and Artemis. Sorry.
We will have four scholarship quarterbacks competing in the spring. Zac Thomas is probably the front runner, he's more athletic than Lamb, but we're almost guaranteed to see a drop in play at QB just because Lamb set the bar so high. The fan base is also very high on Steph Brown because he's a monster athlete with measurables that are off the chart.
I think it will wind up being Kaleb Barker for Troy. I believe his dual-threat speed will give him the nod over the competition.

The jury is still out on his passing. He's looked pretty good this year in backup action. On the year, he was 8/13 passing for 143 yards and 1 TD... plus he had 21 rushes for 181 yards and 2 TD's.

I think the biggest factor is the chemistry between him and the WR's. Silvers had great chemistry with a lot of the WR's. I'm not sure what that will look like for Barker.

Another factor will be if our QB coach can help Barker develop more zip on his passes. That was one thing that made Silvers such a good QB... he could throw accurately with a lot of zip.
redshirt freshman QB Jack Walker: 6'3ft 220lbs prototypical pocket passer with nice arm and accuracy. From what I read about him, he's a very intelligent QB. Can buy time by moving around the pocket. Highest rated QB we ever recruited. Comes from a football family....his father played for Mississippi State. Reminds me of Taylor Lamb from App.
http://www.georgiastatesports.com/ViewAr...M_ID=12700

JUCO transfer QB Dan Ellington: 6'2ft 192lbs 3 star duel threat QB. Rocket arm, elusive mobility, and decent accuracy. He had put up crazy stats in the Mississippi JUCO league, the toughest JUCO league in the country. My money is on Walker, but wouldn't surprise me at all if Ellington's dynamic playmaking ability wins him the starting job. Reminds me of Caleb Evans from ULM.

Winchester, our junior duel-threat QB, will get an opportunity, but no one expects him to beat Walker or Ellington as the starting QB.
Sawyer Smith or Kaleb Barker. Sawyer is more talented and he redshirted this year. We will look very different on offense next season. Nine months from yesterday we will know it more about our team.
Coastal will lose former walk-on/4th string guy, turned starting QB Keene.

Will we have numerous guys competing:
1) Late season starter, former Fresno St transfer Kilton Anderson
2) Twice under knife (incl throwing shoulder), moved to safety pending outcome of surgery, now back to QB Chance Thrasher (first 3* QB ever signed by CCU - has basically never played)
3) Redshirt FR kid, bit raw, dual threat, but arm cannon, from Tennessee
4) True FR from 7A Florida HS, won 7A State Championship and Florida Mr Football Award
And several others...

Winchester could not beat out Manning and both Walker and Ellington are better than Manning. If Winchester enters another game it means catastrophe has struck.

agreed! Manning was a mediocre QB for 2 years and Winchester couldn't win the starting job. Some of our fanbase love Winchester but I don't understand it.

He's a good kid. Very involved on campus and many hoped he would become a dual threat QB

As someone else mentioned, Zac Thomas will likely enter spring ball as the leader. He is a little bigger than Taylor and a similar runner. We also have another rising redshirt sophmore from Florida in the battle along with rising redshirt freshman who played at Conway HS.
The true "wild card" will be Stephon Brown. His measurables are intriguing... 6'5", 230 pounds and runs a 4.5 forty. Threw for 2800 yards and ran for another 700 during his senior season at Glenn HS in Kernersville, NC.04-cheers
Cam Newton 2.0. New features include a positive attitude and good sportsmanship, features not included in Cam Newton 1.0.

I think he has a good skillset to be one, but didn't receive the coaching/development he needed.

I think Miles was blinded by 4-star Manning (I seem to recall someone posting a nuclear bomb gif when he transferred as well) but Manning was basically a bust under Miles as well. At least Elliott's staff was able to figure out a way to get some better level of production from him.

Winchester would have been a better QB for ya'll, especially to help the run game, if he had been coached up from the beginning. It may be too late at this point, but stranger things have happened.

Walker is a true freshman this year. Took a redshirting year. Manning is 5th year senior. Elliott had no real expectations to win this season. Safer to let Walker learn the playbook, get coached up, and acclimate to the college football

Who knows. Maybe he could've been dangerous in a school with TO scheme because of his pure athleticism and lightening acceleration. Can't convert to WR because he can't catch. Not physical enough to play defense. He does have a strong arm but the accuracy isn't exactly pinpoint..but you don't need that in TO scheme.
