Did you watch any of the Utah and FSU bowl games?

The disparity in size, speed and talent between NIU next year and those teams is HUGE.05-stirthepot

See easy OOC topic if you want to be stirring the pot
Oh stop it we competed with SDSU with speed and beat Stanford and we beat Nebraska who has the same size as those teams.
Comes down to limiting mistakes and creating and capitalizing on turnovers. That’s how you win in major college football.
Lose, and everyone expected it. Win, and you have a lifetime memory.

Just compete.

And lost to Western Illinois, at home.
Just saying we can compete with size and speed, but will the play calling and execution be there.

Neither of those teams can keep the Huskies out of the MCC.

Unless someone gets injured.
I am very pessimistic about next year unless we can find a QB that can throw the football. We do not have that right now.

Me too. That's the key.
Santa would have been good. Alas. . .

yep. Never mind our typically predictable playcalling. I think we have a mountain to climb next season.

I always saw him as a backup high end. But Childers was 3rd string so I hated the fact that Carey went with Childers over Santa. A shame to lose a good kid and maybe our season would have ended up better with our 2nd string vs our third string.
Let us compare CFU to Auburn last weekend. Size, speed were not in their favor. Solid QB play was very much the reason they won. So, I believe our OOC schedule is winnable if we have solid QB play and receivers who can run solid routes and get separation.

The question for next year is will we have an improved QB leading the team?

Our O-line needs to establish themselves in the trenches and improve their run blocking. They pass block well but are below average establishing the line of scrimmage in the run game. Harbison is the perfect back for this type of running next year. We could not pound the ball at all this year. Our QB taking the next step and an improved run game will be the difference next year. Our defense will be legit again.
