No opening line yet for the game this Saturday. I’m guessing we’ll be favored by 12 or more. The Charlotte program has certainly fallen on hard times. I’m sure they will turn it around soon.
Hear that? It's the sound of our RPI drowning from all these dead weight conference teams. Eww.

It’s a shame because they used to play in the A-10 and expected to make the tournament every year. We need their program to return to their former glory, so a win against them means something. But definitely not this year - hopefully next.

Just shows what CUSA can do to a basketball program, especially in this part of the country.

Don't know I'd blame the conference on this one

They were actually terrible throughout their A10 years. They haven't been a quality team since they were in CUSA v1.0.
I'm bringing a group of budding Monarch fans down for this one.

Should be an exciting game. Charlotte brings it when they play us. And their fans travel well and get loud in the Ted.

Didn't Charlotte win the A10 championship the year before they joined CUSA?

No, they finished 21-12 (8-8), which got them into the NIT somehow. Last time they made the NCAA was in 04-05, which was the last year they were in CUSA v 1.0.

Charlotte is a great basketball program that is in a rebuilding phase - same for UTEP. I’m very glad they’re in our conference.

They are so respected that we broke into the top 25 a couple of years ago after we beat them on the road. Although I realize we had significant wins prior to that point.

Same here. However, they have been rebuilding for 5 years. Hope they make a good hire this time.

UNCC needs to invest in a new stadium

Basketball? Halton Arena is barely 20 years old and seems like it suits their needs just fine. It's not like it's Scope or something.
Saturday 7:00 at the Ted: Charlotte (4-7).

Results to date: Methodist (116-76); Oklahoma St (65-83); College of Charleston (72-81); Presbyterian (83-74); High Point (70-67); Davidson (70-85); JMU (82-87); Wake Forest (57-80); Chattanooga (50-64); ECU (69-50); USF (76-78).

Last game: Charlotte jumped out to a 31-17 lead to open the game, but USF rallied to cut the lead to 2 at HT. Charlotte then led 50-45 to open the second half, but USF went on a 15-4 run and held the 49ers at bay from there. A potential game-winning three fell short at the buzzer. Charlotte had 4 players in double figures: Adrian White 16 (5-9 3s); Jon Davis and Andrian White 15 each and Jaylan McGill 12 (3-5 3s) off the bench.

Stats: 73.6 pts (vs 75); .458 FG (.399 3s); .684 FT; -1.4 RB; A/TO= 0.9

Starters
F Najee Garvin (6-7 220 So). 20.9 min.; .463 FG; .688 FT; 4.6 RB; 8.7 pts (4 starts)
C Jailan Haslem (6-10 260 Jr). 15.2 min.; .516 FG; .563 FT; 3.5 RB; 3.7 pts
G Austin Ajukwa (6-7 210 Sr). 21.9 min.; .435 FG (10-25 3s); .857 FT; 2.8 RB; 7.5 pts (6 starts)
G Andrian White (6-3 195 Jr). 23.4 min.; .438 FG (20-53 3s); .773 FT; 4.5 RB; 12.5 pts
G Jon Davis (6-3 200 Jr). 33.0 min.; .343 FG (7-28 3s); .724 FT; 3.7 RB; 5.9 assists; 13.0 pts

Bench
G Jaylan McGill (6-2 200 Fr). 13.5 min.; .355 FG (10-27 3s); 1.00 FT; .7 RB; 3.4 pts
F Milos Supica (6-9 235 Fr). 17.3 min.; .615 FG; .481 FT; 3.5 RB; 7.0 pts
G Ryan Murphy (6-2 190 Fr). 16.8 min.; .467 FT (15-31 3s); .333 FT; 5.8 pts (DNP vs USF)
G Luka Vasic (6-8 200 Fr). 14.7 min.; .524 FG (6-11 3s); .375 FT; 2.3 RB; 3.8 pts (DNP last 2 games)

Coach Mark Price dismissed after the Chattanooga loss. Mark’s son Hudson (starter, .627 FG, .524 3s,10.2 pts/g) left the team. Team has rallied around interim coach Houston Fancher, beating ECU and playing USF to the final buzzer.
That jolt of a common goal in coach and son leaving could make for a terrible loss to a revived team with something bigger to play for. Guys better be focused!

I have been to a few ODU games there and I think it is a great place, still looked new last time I was there.
And we sometimes think we have it bad as ODU fans, how about being a Charlotte fan with the current lowly status of their football and basketball teams.
