This was on the Sun Belt message board here:

Troy officials are finalizing a deal where Troy and UAB would open up their seasons with a Neutral Site matchup in Montgomery at Crampton Bowl. 2020 and/or 2021

Could be a replacement for the Raycom kickoff game. It was JSU vs Chattanooga this year,

I have not heard anything confirming it but what are your thoughts if this comes true?
Well if it is considered a 7th home like game instead of counting as our 6th home game then that would be great.

or more specifically

Would this be part of our 12 games or would it be a 13th game?
I think that the stadium is too small for a game like this. 21,000 seats will make this a hot ticket available hopefully to season ticket holders only. 10,500 seats for each school and split right down the middle (a la UGA-Florida in Jacksonville every year) would make for a fun atmosphere.
Cramton Bowl seats 25,000, not 21,000. Wikipedia is incorrect. So, 12,500 each.

We would need to get some good TV money for the deal I would think. I also would hope that this game serves as an away game and we still get 6 home games. Cramton Bowl link
I like the idea. Should be good for both schools.
Sounds cool to me as long as we still get 6 home games.
Not a 13th game. CB seats 25,000 plus standing room. Has Lux boxes now. Looks like keeping 6 home games is very doable.

Keeping 6 home games in 2021 doesn't look doable.

In order to have 6 home games in 2020 we'd need another OOC home opponent. But that would leave us with no buy game which isn't going to happen.

Same thing in 2021. Since we're already away at Tulane, the neutral site vs Troy, one OOC home game, and a buy game would leave us with 5 home games.
Cramton Bowl in too small considering the direction these programs are going in. Make it home and home.
I just want to play the Pike County Trojans again. I’m down.
Me and my brother in law go to the Camellia Bowl every year. It’s a good stadium.
This would be an tremendously stupid idea. Crampton wouldn't be remotely big enough for a UAB-Troy matchup.
Yea forgot liberty. Maybe we could swap home games with them? Hell I don’t care. What happens happens and I’ll be there with full support.
Wasn't Savannah State supposedly scheduled for 2020?
I think its a good idea. Gives an inroad in recruiting and fan growth in the Montgomery area
Great Concept in the Making would like to see a rotation with them, South and UAB every year to kick the season off. We could shift the game in South (Mobile), Montgomery (Crampton) Troy and Legion and maybe put Jax State in their for some fun and even welcome UNA to some football, Would Like to see a UAB - Samford football game. Thankful for the Savanah St. game its fertile recruiting ground.

That's our season opener next year. 2018.

I would rather play ever team you mentioned than Savannah State. That said I'll be there every game.
Not easy to get a game these days. Their scheduled way in advance, Thankful for the games the blazers get, Most games are already scheduled. Its not like you can just pick the phone up and say hey we would like to play you here on this date, its quite intricate. Schedule seems to be shaping itself quite well. You have any open dates with teams that you would like to play. If you do you are a miraculous AD. Check the Schedules of other teams and see what they have open. That's why, I say we are thankful to Have Savanah St. as a opener. The Blazers are working with a 2 year absence and trying to pick it up with non equal playing ground. Say what you want, were working 2 years behind every dang team in America and well we did gosh good for their first year back. It, won't get any easier in year two of the re-established program - good thing we have some resilient people.
