Nice video on the MACC Game.

Great season for our Toledo Rockets, to bad most of the city of Toledo slept thru the season. This city and all the lazy people who sat at home and watched our games on tv. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Go Rockets.

TV ratings and attendance have been in decline for NCAA football for several years including UT, MAC, BigTen etc...., combined with the split interest with local fans following UM or OSU (or ND), UT just does not get the local support or interest it perhaps deserves. Failing a top 10 visiting team or undefeated top 25 season, I doubt we will ever see consistent full crowds at UT games, even if every home game was on a Saturday.
We had pretty good crowds minus the student turnout for the WMU game... Especially considering we can get high teens and low 20ks for midweeks and everyone else struggles for 5k.
I needed to see that. Didn't spend enough time enjoying the win and congratulating the team on a great season. When I thought we might be falling apart after the loss to OU, we came back and dominated against Ball State (as expected). That same wekkend , OU lost to Akron. Only then did it become apparent that the number of games we had played in a short period of time - including the big win over NIU was mostly responsible for the poor performance against OU. That can happen - as much as you think it should not if you are a championship caliber team. But the team and coaches got it done. I feel really good about what we have back next year, and who we are picking up from the recruits.

I can remember back in 1997 thinking we did not have a QB that could step in after Huzjak (sp?) graduated - and we got Chris Wallace to step in. He did ok...
I was very surprised not to see a better turnout for a Saturday MACC involving Toledo. I've always thought (still do) that you guys have the most consistent fan support in the conference.

Someone show this guy pictures... Remember. It was a noon game. Against a team we already crushed, sitting at 7-5.

We brought 15,000. I think that shifts the blame to someone else...

Relax. It's not a UT problem. Every MACC has had disappointing attendance except last year which was obviously a "perfect storm" scenario. I was just hopeful that a Saturday game would help, as well as you guys having a long wait since the last appearance.

Bro...watch the game. We traveled fine. Everyone who watched was shocked at the announced attendance because of how good it looked on tv. They had been fudging the figures for years. Now they reported an honest number. Thats life. I was impressed by the crowd....as were most on the board.
The Akron side sounded a good support for UT also so I'm guessing some purchased tickets there to get closer. Also general admission solidly UT. Solid with UT gear. UT brought nearly a Glass Bowl crowd to a not cheap (relative to home) away game, in which the road there was one-way. Only WMU would bring more.

I mean... CMU would bring a lot too but it has to be taken with relative success of the season. Would either bring more if they were playing 7-5 Akron at noon? Its hard to tell. We are much closer. But they probably have bigger alum bases in Detroit. All would travel 25k+ if they were 12-0 and in the access race.
