"$30 million project." The pictures look good. I wonder how many seats will be added in the next expansion?
30 mil sounds like a conservative estimate to me for everything that was mentioned if it is to be quality first class work. Or am I just wrong? I imagine it will cost more.

Can’t wait to see progress when I go to a game next fall.

There isn't a ton of seats going in. That's where it gets expensive. The more seats the more bathrooms that have to match certain quotas. I think 30 million is pretty spot on.
Its only expanding to 25k.

Yea. I think part of the confusion is that they originally quoted it as 40-50 million, so dropping down to 30m is a lot lower. That said, the existing tower and 2nd deck on the home side, completed in 2010, was only a 16 million. The student side is just the seats with a lot of brick behind it, but won't even be a real tower.

I wonder if the 40-50 came from the original expansion plans. That one was between 30-35k seats
The 40-50m was given with the 25k announcement, but it was stated that negotiations would bring it lower.

Hmm, idk why it was so much higher. That seems really high. Maybe they wanted to overstate it to avoid people being upset that the price was higher than anticipated (look at CCU).
Next year will be very exciting for the program and there should be at least an average of 25k per game. For a lark, here are my thoughts on attendance per home games next year, all contingent on good weather:

vs Old Dominion Sep 1 30k, standing room only
vs Norfolk State Sep 15 20k
vs North Texas Sep 22 20k
vs Troy Oct 13 22k
vs Idaho State Oct 20 20k
vs New Mexico State Nov 24 20k

Total: 132,000
Hopeful Average: 22,000
Unknown/Unforeseen factor average 19,000+

I originally thought the figures would be much higher, but the attendance for 2017 was significantly off from most expectations. More FBS team fans will travel. ODU will break and set a new all time attendance record, that should stand until 2019 when Syracuse comes to town. If 19+k fans average attend, a stadium of 25k will look nearly filled. Let's hope it's closer to 22k or greater.
I wouldn't count on any of the schools traveling much better than the Big South with the obvious exception of ODU. Any significant growth will be organic from LU fans.

I agree, the vast majority of any attendance increase will be LU fans or mere local college football fans wanting to see some better competition that's cheaper and closer than Blacksburg and Cville. ODU, should be the obvious team with a decent traveling base. I'd have to guess, that maybe Troy would be next only because they're the next closest. NSU doesn't travel well at all.
Found a great live cam of the stadium from LU.

Yeah I saw this on ASOR. The new deck looks pretty big
Congrats on the stadium expansion. Nov 28, 2020 is too far away to say if I'll make it. Hope you enjoy it. We certainly need stadium improvements, but think by 2019 we will just be getting our Indoor Practice Facility built.

Again Congrats.
