If we can get close to 30 people, I will try to schedule a luncheon with Coach Creighton perhaps after late signing period.

If interested, use this thread.....
Dear Luckeyone,
Like I said on the other thread, I'm in.
No free pass for Creighton. We love him, but he's got to get EMU to win 6 games in 2018. I agree with this writer in that we may have had bad luck in a couple of games but for sure not 7 times. We need to upgrade/change/improve OC play calling and start all over from scratch on Special Teams. The Special Teams I saw this past season sabotaged the making of a very good season and cost us wins. Our special teams were the worst I've seen at EMU in 25 years.

I'm going to assume the writer frequents this forum. In my opinion this is a flimsy article. He's trying hard to be negative but not too negative.

OK, EMU is losing some key players. So is every other school in the NCAA. He makes no mention of EMU returning the entire OL (the importance of that cannot be understated) or returning so many important contributors on defense. Let's see him write an article about the QB candidates or the new facility we've been hearing about. Enough of the sky-is-falling attitude.

Agree Nickle, but CC also must make difficult decisions to advance this program. If we keep doing the same thing, we'll keep getting what we've always have gotten. CC knew after two seasons, EMU could not win with the defensive strategy. CC upgraded the defensive coordinator position and we did very well. I'm not too confident in our OC and ST coaches. At any rate, we need to get to 6 wins next season.
Slightly off topic but I didn’t think that it warranted its own thread. Do they still have coach Castro and Coach Murphy out at Aubrees in Depot Town for a radio show once a month? I haven’t see any info on it.

Uh, or we'll find us a NEW COACH who will DEFINITELY get us to six wins, right?

As you know there are no absolutes in life. However CC has proven that EMU job can be successful if our AD hires experienced head Football coaches and not P5 assistants.

If we win 3-4 games next season, yes it's time to move on. Got to keep on trying at EMU and not settle for below average!

There may be no absolutes in life but one thing I do know is that if you're constantly changing coaches, you're not giving anyone an opportunity to fully develop the program to instill a change. If you look at our history before last year, we were constantly changing coaches every 4-5 years and just repeated a futile, losing cycle over and over and over again. Right now, Creighton has gotten EMU to a Bowl Game and despite a long losing streak, got that team to 5-7. He's brought energy to the football program that we have not had and all of a sudden we have discussion about improving our facilities which would lead to improved recruiting which I hear a bunch of whining about.

Next year, let's say EMU wins 4 games but we are down to our 3rd string QB or we have a string of injuries that cause our defense not to be as productive as expected. Is that really just reason to fire a coach who has gotten the program on the right foot. As you said, there are no absolutes in life nor should there be any absolute to the fact that if we only win 3-4 games next season that we should move on.

I'm sorry but the approach of constantly rehashing your coach is a sign of a LOSING program. However, sometimes showing some confidence in a coach can lead you to success as well. Personally, I think Creighton just for these last two seasons has earned himself an opportunity to keep going for at least another couple years unless something dramatic changes.
7 wins next year or bust, no QB excuses. Find your most talented guy, and build the offense around his strengths. Sure our 7 losses included some 'bad luck', but it was mostly a combination of terrible execution and questionable coaching decisions. Break ground on the new facilities, get to another bowl game, and this year will be quickly forgotten.

Program headed in the right direction.

Agree with you, 100%.

If you got a good coach, extended him (wasn't CC extended?), etc. do not screw around...

Coaches should be fired when the program is in the toilet, dysfunctional, etc. etc. and that is NOT our program... Period.
Before this season he was extended to 2022. Whether anyone on here likes it or not, 0 chance he gets fired after next season, regardless of what happens on the field. Don't know what the buyout would be, but there's no way we would choose to add that expense to our budget.

We're heading in the right direction, guys. I'm optimistic we'll be bowling again next season. Let's hope we don't have to worry about it.

Well said
By ALL means, try to avoid the debacle at Kent State. This is a read of a program trending downward so far and so fast, with little hopes for the immediate future.

http://footballscoop.com/news/update-kent-state/

How about this quote:

"Athletic director Joel Nielsen focused the search on successful FCS, Division II & III head coaches, speaking with dozens and meeting with quite a few. One source told FootballScoop, “Whether technically offered or not, at least 15 coaches have turned this one down.”

UGH!!!

P.S. Good news for us: We play @Kent State in 2018. I don't expect us to be a double digit underdog. Lol.

They sure picked a tough year to need a head coach.
