"Commitment" seems to be a difficult word not being properly taught in schools these days
Off topic, but on the link... it still bugs me that the RTD includes VT, WM and JMU in their "local colleges" listing. Thats some prime visibility. I wonder how much it would cost to have ODU included? If they would add the ODU logo and just repost the AP and VP articles it would be worth paying for.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that was have our own paper in HR and those other schools don't have any other newspaper coverage. Just a guess.
Basically, here's what happened. VT accepted their commitments early, hoping they'd develop into good ACC players. They have not developed at that rate, so VT backed off (particularly of the big guy). The three know each other very well, so the twins jumped ship when Buzz let the big guy go. Honestly, one of the twins has ACC potential. The other two guys, probably not.

W&M is technically in their circulation area. JMU and VT aren't, but the T-D always cast itself as the state's paper, and both have large alumni populations throughout the state (VT in particular).

ODU and George Mason's alumni bases are more localized, and if VCU was in Norfolk or Fairfax they'd probably get similar treatment for the T-D.

Richmonders: How much does the T-D do with ODU? It's been a while since I've lived there and can't say that I've paid that much attention. Did they up their coverage of ODU when they moved to FBS? Or is it about the same level as it was when they were in the CAA and had FCS or no football?

I suspect even if ODU interest swung upward in the past few years, their resources have fallen off in the past years as most newspapers' have, so even if they wanted to cover them more, they wouldn't be able to.

I live in Richmond, don't subscribe to the TD but look at it on line from time to time. The coverage is not any better than it was years ago. The one exception seems to me would be that from time to time they will write a story about a local recruit that is playing football for us. I have seen nice articles on J. DuHart and N. Clarke. Of course it was in the news when Jason Wade committed to us but a fairly small article considering he is one of the best in this area. Maybe someone that sees the paper on a regular basis will have a different view. I prefer to get my news from other sources.
By the way, nice article today in the TD on the game tonight.
