Here's an interesting article from the Clarion Ledger on State's new coaching search.

Who is the Bulldogs' next coach?

Saw on Twitter a while ago that they might be honing in on Todd Monken who used to be at Southern Miss.

Are you referring to JEFF Monken, the Army coach?
I would go strait to Louisville and get Bobby Petrino. With Ole Miss soon to go on sanctions from the NCAA. This would allow MSU to build up talent and make a strong run in the SEC.

Lateral move at best.

No, Todd Monken. He used to be at Southern Miss and is now the OC for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

All moves are pretty much a down grade unless you are hiring Mullens, Kelley or Fischer
I would think that Mark Hudspeth would make it into the conversation.

If this had been happening two years ago he would be a lock.

I think many at Miss State would like to make Grantham the head coach and hire a good offensive coordinator. But word is Grantham may go with Mullen to Florida. We'll see.

I like this combination the best. He's still HC caliber, and MSU needs someone.

Not really. A lot more talent in Mississippi than in Kentucky.

Have heard tonight that #PennState OC Joe Moorhead is a strong candidate for the #MissState HC vacancy (as Dan Wolken's reported). Source says that #Bama DC Jeremy Pruitt, ##Toledo HC Jason Candle, #Michigan asst Pep Hamilton & #Miami DC Manny Diaz among those also in the mix.

Now apparently he's written an article about it...might be pretty serious.

SI on Joe Moorhead potential to Mississippi State
It's official.

Joe Moorhead is the man.
Moorehead might end up as a great coach. But MSU could have gotten a bigger name IMO.

With all of the insanity this year, they were smart to set sights and get their guy. I think they did a great job of not turning this into another UT fiasco.

The Tennessee debacle reminds me of a High School Junior who is just starting to date. He calls up his dream girl first and she says she has other plans. Okay cool. Everyone in school knows she does so no harm done to his reputation. Then he puts some feelers out through his buddies (probably not a bright idea) and finds that a couple of other cuties have plans too. So now the grapevine knows he's looking. Not cool, but far from a disaster. Then on a flyer he asks out a girl who the other girls like, but she's on the fringe culturally in his town. His socialite mother pitches a hissy fit about it and his dad says no. He backs out and now his name is mud among all of the other girls. Now he'll be lucky to find an out of town hooker for the prom. He may land a date, but he'll be even worse off the day after the prom for asking her.

So what's the moral of this story? Unless the SEC home office objects, it might have to be somebody like Petrino, but if it is the Tennessee program will literally be decades away from recovery.

So what should he do? Ask a somewhat cute poor girl who still has an unsullied reputation. In other words I think they are going to have to look for an up and comer. Some girl still in her Freshman year, but acceptable. Maybe she'll develop a crush on her first date with the Big Boy and stay faithful for a lifetime. It may be his only chance now so he'd better love her back.

Well it looks like they decided on a Sophomore from an out of state Northern town. Maybe that will work.
