Demario Eddins holds the record for most points by a freshman in a season.

The top 5:
1. Demario Eddins (2002-03) 349 33
2. Chris Cokley (2014-15) 285 36
3. Paul Delaney (2005-09) 269 31
4. William Lee (2014-15) 265 36
5. Nick Norton (2014-15) 253 36

In comparing Bryant to Eddins, I believe Bryant is going to blow this record away.

Looking back, it took Eddins 10 games to reach 100 points. After 6 games, Bryant has 90. Eddins scored 15 or 16 points his first 4 games, but then slowed down, averaging only around 6 points over the next 6 games. Bryant is currently averaging 15 points after 6 games.

The minimum amount of games UAB will play this year is 32 games. He is on pace to score 480 points, which will easily beat the Freshman record. He could join the 1000 point club after two years! And at that pace, he would break Steve Mitchell's scoring record during his senior year. I know it is a little presumptive to be making such wild projections after 6 games, but wow.
What is really interesting is 3 on that list all were freshmen together.

After the freshman year those guys had, I thought we had a core group that was about to go on a special run (ie; multiple NCAA tournaments in a row).
Again why?

That teams regular season record was 16-15. Some would think having freshmen with that much output shows your upperclassmen as lacking or a very young team. Not to flame anyone.

Washington top 25 juco
Brown 4 star
Mehinti 3 three
Collins late juco signee
Madison g/f
Watts cg backup pg lost spot to a freshman
Baxter transfer
Lee 4 star
Cokley former miss. Commit
Norton former Creighton commit
Sullivan ended recruitment as a hs jr
Calhoun ended recruitment as a hs jr
I think most people naturally expect freshmen to improve from year to year. The growth has clearly not been there for some of the players. We never had a leader after brown either.
Sorry, but none of these guys are better than Delaney or Eddins.
It’s early still and a lot remains to be seen but Bryant is the most polished, skilled freshman that I have seen at UAB. Heck he already looks more polished than many of our current juniors and seniors which includes some of the better players UAB has ever had.

I remember Steve Mitchell was pretty darn good as a freshman. But its been a long time. And Scootie is not really playing the point full time. But from what little I have seen, it sure seems like he could have a really great career here. Even Steve Mitchell raves about his athleticism.
I was not expecting him to be anywhere near as good as he clearly is.
Will be interesting to see how he does the rest of the year and the rest of his career.
I think Boyce could have a similar impact next year.
Speaking of Boyce, he has been cleared to play at East High School for Penny Hardaway. A week or two earlier, the Tennessee High School association had ruled him ineligible to transfer. However, the decision has been overturned.

Wasn't it just a TRO? Another hearing on 12/7.

You are right. I just saw a lot of congratulations that he was cleared on social media, and did not research further until now.

Boyce is not the big fish in this case. James Wiseman is. Top player in Tennessee and #4 nationally. Would be great if Boyce could get him to come to UAB too.

Bryant may be on a Jersey hanging level, he is a very good player.

If he stays healthy he is going to break a lot of records at UAB
