The last of the 4-game home stand. Haven't seen any odds yet. Will look but I guess about 10 - 12 points in favor of the 'green and white.' It is always hard to tell about teams like Howard who play so many OOC games on the road (for $) so their win/loss record is always distorted.

Howard has a really good guard in Cole. He is a PG, who also seems to like the three point shot. He and Jackson should be a good matchup.

Another interesting freshman is Cousins. Looks like a SF who can rebound but can't shoot. Thought it was supposed to be the reverse.

All told, this team which has played big name teams has not shot the ball well at all.

For those who are in full hoops mode, at 7:00 p.m., on ESPN3 Oakland plays Toledo. That should be a very interesting game vs. two teams EMU must beat this season. Nunn is averaging 30 ppg for Oakland. Nunn alone should be worth the price of admission when Oakland comes to town.
Sparse crowd so far on this rainy day. Hopefully some more late arrivals. Excited to see the boys in person. Howard gave IU a game, going to have to find a way to contain the open 3 looks.

Sloppy play on the offensive end so far.

Down by 2. But Howard is taking a lot of fouls. Meanwhile, we only have 1. Wonder if that becomes a story.
Far more aggressive with Groce on the floor. And I like that we are force feeding Thompson. The dude guarding him is a head shorter.
Much better job stopped the corner 3s. Shooting much better from the line too, especially since we will be in the double bonus for the rest of the half (12 min).

We look much better against a M2M defense. Don't know why Howard ditched the zone. Minnie and Harris both got wide open looks off of ball screens.
I see that EMU is making a better effort to get the ball into the paint. That's what they need to do.
Are we 11 - 11 from the FT line?
Paul Jackson is so good in transition. He's like a longer Mike Talley. Can actually finish in traffic against bigger guys, which is something that Talley struggled with.
I have to say, I don't think we've seen play at their best this year. But I'm encouraged by that. Finding ways to get it done on both ends of the floor, even while we aren't firing on all cylinders.

We have 6 days to tie the loose ends together to take a run at Indiana.

This. We should be up by at least 20, but Thompson has some uncharacteristic misses. I'm glad we keep feeding him though.
Jackson and Ellison in at the same time along with 3 subs up front. Interesting.
Ellison is so quick. He's going to have a lot of growing pains, but I think he could end up being solid. He'll learn how to make better decisions, and the game will slow down for him.
Not bad. This team can be lethal in transition. Elijah Minnie with a nice bounce-back game.

Our lack of shooting will be a problem all year, if we aren't forcing the opponent into TOs. Especially if Thompson is going up against someone bigger and more physical. But if we can force long misses and get out on the break, we can get a big lead in a hurry.

We have all of the pieces except possibly a SG, who can really stroke it.

Harris's shooting might be the difference between a very good and an OMG we're good team.

Everything else is there. Can't find a MAC team with better athleticism and length.

And is college basketball PGs and C are what makes a team great.
defense was great, offense wasn't great, but it's encouraging to see multiple ways for this team to score.
Murphy is not messing around with Minnie today, pulling him really early in both half’s after shotty defense and rebounding.

GREAT pass from Thompson to Minnie under the hoop.
A game we should have opened up a 25+ lead. Giving up 3s and not finishing on the other end is keeping them within 15.

We can look so good when we force TOs and are in transition. And can look so bad and sloppy in the half court.
