EMU has a short week, which spans two calendar weeks, for their final home game.

Television/webcast is: TBD.

Based on my readings of the Sagarin rankings, we should be say a 10 - 12 point favorite. BG should be down after playing their arch rival, TOL.

I went through the stats and looking blind or cold at the stats we look like a 6 - 5 or 5 - 6 team.*

We've outscored our opponents (total points), out gained them, more first downs, more sacks, more TD passes, etc. etc. but just didn't convert some key plays at the critical moments.

Maybe the one stat which might be key is INTs. We had 14; our opponents had 7.
The ole turnover bug. Something which kills a good drive or something which sets up the opponents in good field position.

Curious about Harris. I watched the game and listened to WEMU. Harris was sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his knee. Assume he is done for the season, but haven't heard a medical opinion.

* And if any one thinks this is BS. Someone on the broadcast last night said when we, 2 - 6, played BSU, also 2 - 6, Vegas had us something like a 26 point favorite. This wasn't two bad teams playing each other and either was likely to win.
Our 3rd down conversation percentage was poor again last night and is terrible for the season. Big offensive plays have bailed us out.

That's the sign of a team without a dominant running game. 3rd and 2 is easier than 3rd and 7. Improving the running game is important this offseason.
Haven't seen the point spread yet, but I'll guess EMU will be favored by a TD + FG. roughly 10 points is my guess.

I agree.

EMU now favored by about 13.
So, Jerry Harris is starting according to the 2-deeps...ahhhh, what?
This is a little dated, but as many have already said, the chances of us grabbing a bowl with a 5-7 record is pretty bleak as opposed to last year.

Absolutely. Good find.

As suggested in the article, bowl season could get ugly. Some big name programs sitting home while the MAC will have 6 or 7 teams with 6+ wins.
I'd rather not have us gifted a bowl this year with 5 wins.

Getting the kids home for the Holidays, to mentally and physically refresh from this mentally draining year, will do more good for the team than the extra 7-10 practices or whatever.

Give Creighton some decompression time as well, to figure out what he's going to do with the OC position?

I disagree, I'll take the extra practice time, first back to back bowls (gifted or not) and the money/exposure. We all deserve some good fortune. Regardless it isn't going to happen.

As well as finishing recruiting strong and actually signing the players during the early signing period.

Agreed. Get out there and sell the message that this team is close to a breakthrough, and we really need YOU to get us over the hump. Could have easily been an 8+ win team with wins over Big10 & SEC teams, we just need YOU to be part of bringing EMU back to championship level.

New facilities that are going to be best of the MAC, cool uniforms 04-rock, get in on the action while you can. Only a few spots left!

Sell, sell, sell

Good article. To summarize 78 slots are open.

70 teams already qualified.

18 teams need one more win. 8 of them play each other.

So 70 + 4 (1/2 of the 8 mentioned above) gives us 74 qualifiers.

So if 4 of the other 10 teams win... we have 78 qualifiers.

Sun Belt also has an outside chance to add another qualifier.

So there are 11 teams who have a chance to get to 6 wins.

So if 4 or more of those 11 teams qualify there will be ZERO openings for 5 - 7 teams.

My guess is that there might be say 1 or 2 6-win teams who might sit home this year.
Great, takes care of that.
